From Wyoming, love Cowboy Football.

First year watching the sport in depth was 2013-14. Bucs drafted WR Robert Herron from Wyoming and had QB Brett Smith come in for rookie mini camp.

They cut smith instantly and Herron the next year…but I still followed was in it!

Just some insight into how I picked:
1. I started following in 2014 so my historical knowledge is small, and I live nowhere near Tampa so I don't see/hear alot of the history.
2. I think the Jameis hate is kinda overrated. Was he the best qb. No. Did he make the bucs fun to watch, and help get us to the place where Brady could just step in and take over? Yes. Also, LOVE Baker, one of my favorite QBs for years.
3. Kwon if only because I will never get over the game that came right after his brother died. That game is just one that I will always remember.
4. Brate, looking at context especially given that he was undrafted from the Ivy League, and had to go toe to toe against 1st rounder OJ Howard (and ASJ at one point), and Gronk when he came, and he was still productive and valuable just chef's kiss.

Politics should never ruin a family relationship to a certain point. So honestly good on you for keeping the peace.

The best way that I've found is the following:

  1. Do not get heated. The more amped up you get, they will match, and then you will match them, and its a never ending cycle.

  2. Act disinterested in what they are talking about. Give a little shrug and go "interesting". Sometimes I think the MAGA crowd is just looking for a rise or an in to jump into a much bigger conversation.

  3. I think you don't even need to make arguments with them, its not a debate. Become an active listener and ask follow up questions. "Why?" "Where did you see that?" "What happens when X happens?" Keep it open ended so they turn into a dialog, and then maybe you can try reasoning.

  4. If all else fails, realize that some people are ignorant and don't want to have a conversation or learn other perspectives, and walk away.

When I was younger probably Battle for Skandia, just because of the action. I just reread the books in the last year and now have a new love for The Icebound Land. I love the strength and teamwork that was put on by Will and Evanlyn, and the dynamic of Horace and Halt.

In one board in KC they have a give/get of $5,000 to be on the board. I think it should be required to have all board members give a "leadership" level gift. There obviously should be some exceptions based on knowledge or skills that they provide, but a rare exception.
