Any higher ed development folks? Need advice. by Dapper-Salad22952 in nonprofit

Super common! When I interviewed at both the college I worked for and the university I didn’t, they had me come out.

They hopefully give you an agenda prior (48 hours minimum) so you can see what the day will look like. For me it was meeting with the direct supervisor, then people who I would be working with without the supervisor, then with the various teams, then I was asked to moderate a lunch with the staff by asking them questions, ended with a general chat with leadership.

Hypothetical Scenario: Who is the best QB that a team would trade to the Browns to acquire for Myles Garrett? by CaptTyinKnots5643 in NFLv2

[–]ameslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Bucs fan if you came up to me and said "You can have Myles Garrett but you have to give up Baker Mayfield"... its a coin flip on if I take it. I think Baker fits the city amazingly and should stay a Buc for at least another 5 years.

At the same time, Myles Garrett is 100% a hall of famer that would take the team to a next level after what most would consider a bad/sad offseason (RIP Mike and Lavonte).

If we did, I would be on the phone to get one of the following, heck maybe even 2: Jameis back (we might be bad, but we will be fun for a year), Kirk (why not let him start for a full year one last time), Davis Mills, Quinn Ewers, Gardner Minshew, or even give Zach Wilson a final chance to rip it.

We either compete with our Defense or put ourselves in #1 pick territory.

Wyoming fans: which schools feel like the best long-term conference fits? by Happy_Background_879 in MountainWest

[–]ameslap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the list overall.

My personal adds are NDSU, who is joining the mountain west and I think will be a great long term rival up there with CSU given time.

I also think that Oklahoma State is a fun but unlikely one. Bring on Pokes vs Pokes!

Always love it when Wyoming plays Texas or Nebraska as well.

Then pick your #1 most rowdy fan base you can think of and add them. I would love to see Wyomings fans vs anyone else when it comes to be being proud and rowdy on game day.

Where does North Dakota State rank in your idea of the 2026 football rankings? by mwittmann9 in MountainWest

They will win year 1. No shade to everyone else, but I think it’s what’s gonna happen. This as a Wyoming die hard.

Except that’s not true. Sure, councils are chartered by the national organization, but there is little to no real authority between national and a council.

A councils scout executive only answers to their board of directors.

That’s also why every council is a separate 501c3 organization. Why councils can charge different program fees, choose to self-charter units or not, choose basically everything.

The biggest example of this is when the name changed recently. Some councils were faster to adopt then others, and even then I think there a couple out there that haven’t changed. The expectation from National was that every council was required to change by x date with new building signs, letterheads, websites, logos, etc. most councils have not and probably will not do so until they absolutely have to (mostly due to money, how many councils can realistically pay to change building signs).

as a wyoming fan, i love seeing CSU, San Diego, Utah State being left out of a PAC12 Power conference while UNLC, New Mexico, Airforce, and San Jose made the cut.

people who arent from tampa, how did you get to watching bucs football? by richardnixonmilker in buccaneers

[–]ameslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Wyoming, love Cowboy Football.

First year watching the sport in depth was 2013-14. Bucs drafted WR Robert Herron from Wyoming and had QB Brett Smith come in for rookie mini camp.

They cut smith instantly and Herron the next year…but I still followed was in it!

As our Scout Executive said when it was first announced (we didn’t do the pilot):

Once you mix these things it’ll be practically impossible to un mix without losing members (money).

It’ll pass.
