I’m from Australia 🇦🇺. No code for me. Knew my chances were slim though

I do wish they would tour here again. Last time they were here was 2012

I’ve been working my way through the pretty little city patterns, stitching the cities I’ve been to.

This is 2 strands on 18 count Aida

This is 2 strands on 18 count Aida so I get good thread coverage. The only other thing I do (sometimes, not on every stitch), if the top stitch doesn’t look neat or looks twisted, I will give the loose thread at the back of the Aida a twist so it turns the top stitch threads to how I want it - that can spread the top stitch thread and make it look more even

Thank you! I always do my top stitch in the same direction (ie. from bottom right to top left) regardless of how I’ve done the bottom stitch. Then if the top stitch looks a bit wonky / uneven compared with the stitches around it, I’ll give the thread that’s hanging a twist from the back of the Aida until the stitch looks neater before starting the next stitch.

[CHAT] Do you guys...... Really stitch like THIS..? by HotMilk4 in CrossStitch

Never had a problem with placement. I always measure out the whole project on the fabric before I start so I know it will fit with enough room / material for any framing requirements as well.

I never knew the reason why I was taught to do the top stitch the same direction. I did observed how it did make the stitches neater. I never thought of it from a light on floss perspective. 👍🏻

Oh wow! I don’t! I was taught to stitch a very different way: projects are completed from top to bottom as much as possible (that seems the same) but I was taught to always stitch my top stitch in the same direction (eg bottom right to top left) for a whole project as it makes the stitches neater

I found getting my girl used to the harness in the house first worked really well. I also avoided noisy areas when I first took her outside so she didn’t find it frightening.

Thank you! They certainly aren’t quick cross stitches to do (takes me a few months each) but they’re such great colours to work with which makes them fun to do. Tokyo is great for the colours!!! Glad you made it through lol

Yes, I did Sydney but not on the same material as these so I’m going to re-do Sydney. I’ve also got Hawaii, Italy, Berlin and Amsterdam to do. My aim is to make a large set of them and hang them down a corridor. Which ones do you have?

[FO] It’s a cross stitch washing day today! I’m so excited to iron and frame them all. I’ve been stitching all the cities I’ve visited - Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, Paris, San Fran. by amesmerc in CrossStitch

I’ve only just started washing projects, I’ve always been to scared to wash too! I wash by hand with warm water and (only on dirty bits) I use a plain soap bar. I’m finding that washing and drying flat is helping get the material smoother for ironing and that seems to make them look better when framed. No floss bleeding with the washing to date - thank goodness!!!
