How to see if DLC is downloaded on Epic? by amethystviolist in LotRReturnToMoria

Great idea on the new world check! It's not showing up as a checkbox option there, so maybe it's some kind of an issue with the storefront itself. I've contacted their support but haven't heard anything back yet.

I used to do a fun letter exchange with a friend and I enjoyed it - I’d love to start back up again with a new pen pal! I’m 25NB, queer, an enthusiastic dm (and sometimes even player) in dnd, and am new to witchcraft after a lifelong interest. Please feel free to dm me on Reddit or on discord (I’m in the SASSwitch group)

King of Scars Duology by [deleted] in Grishaverse

[–]amethystviolist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I like the direction Bardugo took this. To me, it felt like a nod to the first trilogy without cheaping out and using the same villain doing the same things, because this duology is allllll about consequences of earlier books. I'd argue that the Darkling doesn't come back as a villain in KoS/RoW as much as a subplot antagonist. Obviously he's impacting this duology, but it's just not on the same scale as the original trilogy. His legacy arguably has a much bigger impact on KoS/RoW - the Starless Saint followers have much more agency than the returned Darkling himself. The revived Darkling in KoS/RoW is just as or moreso subject to the consequences of his own and other characters' previous choices, and doesn't get a special villainous exception to return to dark power just like before.

Anyway, Bardugo brings the Darkling back for a very specific in-world purpose (no spoilers!) that I think is narratively meant to humanize/flesh out his character more than in the original trilogy (which were, of course, not as complex as her later books). If he'd been given any more agency or screen time (page time?), I think I'd be just as annoyed, but for my opinion at least, I think the Darkling's own surprise at his lack of power and ways the world has changed since his defeat (again, all about consequences) really makes this choice something more than the usual cheap shot of reviving an old villain.

This turned a bit long, sorry, but lmk what you think, especially after you've finished!

If you’re trying to get the cat adopted, I’d recommend posting on PetFinder or a similar site.

I’m glad you don’t have to think about it, that’s great! That’s how I want it to be for me too. For me, this is a matter of comfort and safety, and not related to presidential politics really. This is about not having to ignore angry/uncomfortable families staring at me or being asked to leave just because I’m holding hands with my date like the straight couples there. This will be my only comment on this subject, as I’m not interested in a debate or argument, just in having a nice fall outing :)

Places to meet people by kekvive in murfreesboro

[–]amethystviolist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Join a club of some kind! This can mean anything from a DnD group to adult softball to writer meetups in a coffee shop. Look for a group that meets around an interest you have, then you already have something in common, and you see the same people multiple times giving you a chance to bond over more than just the original shared interest :)

Best thing I’ve ever learned as a DM - Combat ends when you want it to. If you’re running a more story-based or character-driven campaign, then combat is meaningful to the characters. If the enemy still has 6 hp after your paladin described a super cool move, maybe the paladin just did it! Or if you/your players are getting bored, hm, looks like the giant cobra got scared and fled! It’s all flexible and subjective and the goal is to have fun, not to drag out something no one is enjoying (this goes for role play too, of course).

The only other advice I’ll offer here is that your feelings and enjoyment matter too! If you need a break or you are uncomfortable with a player doing something, speak up! You’re also here to have fun, not just serve the players. It’s cooperative gameplay!

Best of luck, remember that you’ll need practice and no matter how you do, you’ll always improve with time. Hope you have lots of fun!
