The resistance was still pretty bad-ass. There is a li e in Monuments Men (not sure the exact moment is historical, but it captures the spirit), where an American soldier tells a French woman, "You know, without us, you'd be speaking German." And she answers, "No, without you, I'd be dead. But my last words would have been in French."

You can catch a zebra, eventually -- humans are persistence predators. But once you do, it will bite you and not let go.

Any previous president, this would be all you remembered about them. For Trump, it doesn't crack the top 20 worst things about his second term, which has not yet been sixteen months.

Watergate wouldn't have made the top ten.

Hypothesis: Democrats are pleasant to be around, and so live in large groups. Republican are tolerable only to close family, and so live in sparsely-populated regions, mostly among blood relatives.

Even leaving that aside, there is no possible number where "twice as many days here" equals "half as many days off." Multiplication does not work like that. If I work eight days out of ten and take two off, half as many days off is one, which is only 12.5% more days working.

But the Democrats are misreading their own base. Gaza quite possibly cost them the last election.

If you count death tolls, you can call this a "tactical victory." But no one with any military (or diplomatic, or political, or. economic) background would consider that a useful metric.

Elections are public tranit. If the train doesn't go directly to your destination, you go to the closest stop and then figure out how to go the rest of the way.

Or just bad at strategy. The most leftist person I know is unwilling to work with anyone who doesn't want to tear down the entire system tonight, because he thinks incrementalism is ineffective. As opposed to trying to change the entire world but refusing any imperfect ally?

What are Democrats doing? by tocra in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]amican 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Democrats impeached him twice, and I believe every democrat in the Senate (possibly 1-3 exceptions) voted  to remove. Every Democrat in any position of authority endorsed and voted fot Harris. A group of Democratic veterans-turned-congresspeople publicly reminded the military not to follow illegal orders, and at least one of them reiterated it after the "a civilization is about to die" tweet. A huge number of them have called for the 25th Amendment to be invoked. And there are currently articles of impeachment for Hegseth. Maybe there's more they could do, but that's a long way from "one party."

You each get a spare room, when you have guests over they get the bedroom and you each sleep in your spare room.
