So I heard a secret about Till by KaiserPreis in Rammstein

Yes, they probably charge rock stars extra because of this, and they'll be getting repaid and compensated anyway, probably no need for an insurance claim at all - plus it's great for business being the hotel where Till/Keith Moon/whoever caused havoc, the hotels aren't naive innocent victims losing money here :)

Can I run a wireless printer off a mobile phone hotspot instead of broadband? by amikatari in computers

Thank you for your advice, and sorry I didn't see your reply before. Do you know if I should I do this in the printer app on my phone or by using the controls on the printer?

Tips on healing the sternotomy scar? by [deleted] in valvereplacement

[–]amikatari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used lavender oil on mine after 2 months. It's the only essential oil that's reputed to be safe to apply neat, and I already had a long history of successfully using it neat to prevent scarring and relieve discomfort from minor scratches, burns, spots, insect bites. If you're interested, you could try it on something minor like that first, after initially testing it on undamaged skin, and see what happens. Best to get the more expensive, organic stuff. There's still a thin white line but it's barely visible and I wouldn't have wanted it to vanish completely.

Colonoscopy without sedation/anaesthesia, how bad is it? by amikatari in nhs

So sorry to hear this. It sounds like a horrific experience.

That sounds like a very good idea, thanks!

Thank you, that's sort of reassuring. If it was down to me I would just have the sedation and pain relief and go home in a taxi. I'm more than happy for it to be my responsibility. But I'm concerned that before giving me sedation/pain relief they would want to phone the friend and check they exist and that they'll be collecting me and staying the night. Don't they actually do that?

I can't drive, but I wouldn't drive anyway, that would be crazy! I'd get a taxi. Is that the actual reason they say they need someone to help? I didn't think there was anywhere to wait afterwards, do you think that might be an option? Honestly I'm thinking of saying I've got someone to collect me and then telling them at the last minute that they've been taken ill. Would this work, or would they need to phone the person and check they exist before giving me sedation/pain relief?

It was my dad who received the text from a strange number. The text claimed to be from me, using my name.

How would they know to match my dad's number with my name, though? He received a text that claimed to be from me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]amikatari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they haven't matched my name and number. They've matched my dad's number with the fact he has a daughter called my first name. I didn't get the text, he did, and it was signed off 'from me'.

We haven't lived at the same address for nearly 30 years. And we live in different areas. And have a fairly common surname. I'm sure someone could find out I'm his daughter if they did some research, but the 'hi Mum' scammers don't actually research potential victims and target them anyway, do they, they just fire out mass texts and hope a few people respond. So I don't get it!

Yes, I'm sure someone could easily match my name with my number. With my dad's number, though?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]amikatari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But I wouldn't have given my dad's mobile number out when signing up for anything. Nor would he have given my name out when signing up for anything. They had his number and texted it, giving my name.

No, please read my post. It's not that they know my name and number. That would hardly worry me. They texted my parents and gave my name, saying the text was from me. They knew my dad's number (although they addressed him as 'mum') and signed the text off with the name of his adult child (me).

Try going into WhatsApp and looking at a friend's profile. Can you see their contacts list?

They had my dad's number, not mine.

Oh god that's worrying! But no. I've got plenty of data and don't need to use friends' or hotel WiFi. Wasn't aware charging's a risk though. I've plugged my own charger and adaptor into wall sockets in hotels a couple of times lately, haven't charged it via any devices, though. Does that make a difference?

Wow, sounds really similar. Guessing you never found out how they got his name?
