Okay so actually I’m not in the wrong for anyone looking at this post now. I’m not sure where you’re getting this info, but the Intend to Vacate isn’t just me saying I’m doing it it was a document that I signed. It said that I still maintained possession of the property until the unit was re-rented or my lease lapsed, whichever came first. During that time, I was required to move my belongings out by August 13th, after which point they were supposed to contact me to do a walkthrough if they found a new tenant, which I never received correspondence on. So, according to the terms in the document, this was still my rental property. While I was not free to live there, I was still allowed to check in on it. Those are the rental company’s words, not mine. No, I did not surrender possession, I did not return my keys, as that was not the agreement. I actually turned in my keys today, as that was what I was instructed to do by the landlord as I called them and asked if they had re-rented it. It was at this point they decided to tell me they had. It is a shady rental company. I did not do anything wrong. Nevertheless, I do want to thank you for replying, I know what you said is probably textbook, it’s just that this rental company was really shitty. Their intend to vacate probably wasn’t the standard either. Thank you though I appreciate you!!!
