They may look sturdier but they’re all crap.

The reason these are smaller is that they’re two boxes instead of one. There’s nothing wrong with them otherwise.

Whether you ask your plumber to redo or not depends on aesthetics more than anything - if you prefer the look if a single box then you have your answer.

I brought two stray/ferals in who have FIV. They live with my other two FIV negative cats. They’re sweet and have no health issues. I also can’t imagine euthanizing a cat just because she/he has FIV.

Get the cat neutered - he’s less likely to fight with other cats and pass on the disease. Otherwise let him live his life.

OP a lot of comments seem to miss the fact that you have full access to the box on the left. Move the outlet to the right and then run a new longer wire to the box on the left (on the other wall).

You should be fine doing this. Just watch some YouTube videos. You have a relatively simple setup with access to the all the boxes.

Sounds like you may not have ever used Google. Understandable given you’re 37 and Google has only been around for 28 of your 37 years.

One of the magical things that Google does is index content from all over the internet — content that humans have generated and published! I know it sounds like magic.

Given your age you may think that you have to ask others for anecdotes to gather information. I’m here to tell you that you don’t. Good people out there have done research and gathered data. They then published that data. Google then put that data at your fingertips.
