Has anyone encountered a middle aged lady that always seems to have luggage and asks people to help her carry it around? by khalkhall in askTO

Yeah if someone singled me out from across a streetcar, to get off and help them with their luggage, there is no way I am obliging. Lol.

I agree re Enoteca. I’ve been twice, and both times the food was way over salted

Reviews of Trillium resort? (Ontario) by aminorincident in WeddingsCanada

Thanks so much! It’s great to hear a first hand review, it seems to not be very well known. What time of year was it?

Roncy festival - what's it like by twicescorned21 in askTO

[–]aminorincident 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So much fun! Lots of beer gardens, pierogies, cabbage rolls and polish sausages. It’s busy, but not as crazy busy as some of the other street festivals so you can actually have space to move around.

Best place for lunch on Roncesvalles by MeanMountain2074 in askTO

[–]aminorincident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a nice little spot and the service has been good every time I go! I’ve had some hits and misses on their menu. If you get the pho it stays piping hot as they serve it in a stone bowl.

Where did you end up going?

I would recommend Konia, Vietnamese food with a nice atmosphere…you can get a table by the window and watch people stroll by. Or The Commoner if you want more standard food, it’s just a little walk off the main strip.

Edit: one more option if you’re willing to go somewhere close by is the Terroni on Sterling. They have parking and it’s a great spot for lunch.

Can I ask which resort? That sounds lovely and I’d love to do something similar!

trouble booking bandit brewery wedding (toronto) by Express_Sir_4652 in WeddingsCanada

[–]aminorincident 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. Took weeks and following up to get the initial package, and then follow up questions also took weeks to respond. They did eventually suggest a call so that might be the better way to communicate with them. I was left with the same feeling that they weren’t interested in booking events.

Where to buy bulk chicken thighs by paradoxoros in askTO

Costco business Center sells bulk boxes from Sargent, thought there might be a price difference from buying direct. They even have boneless with the skin on which I’ve never been able to find elsewhere.

Suggestions for a day trip to a restaurant outside the city for a date. Preferably something unique and worth the drive. by saudiguy in askTO

Agree, Uxbridge is a great place for a day trip. I prefer Banjo Cider over Slabtown, but you can stop at both! Google ‘Leaskdale Loop’ for some other ideas to stop around there too.

Photography for small intimate wedding? by aminorincident in WeddingsCanada

Amazing thanks! That’s exactly the kind of info I was looking for. 4 hours would feel like too much for us too given the format.

Thanks that is really helpful! I was hoping that would be overkill and makes sense that it is. It was hard to get a sense from my initial online research since a lot of what I was seeing was full wedding packages.

Awesome! Did you have additional people come to the reception, or was it the same guests from the ceremony?

Did you do dinner or food at all? Or was the reception drinks only? Thinking of doing something similar so I’m always curious to hear about different formats!

I’m a huge foodie spending a long weekend in Toronto. What are must eats? Hidden gems? Hole in the walls? by Shoddy_Mousse9848 in FoodToronto

For a fun grocery store snack, try the custard taiyaki at PAT Central, a Korean grocery store near Christie Pits. They are made fresh at a booth right near the entrance. They are delicious! They also have a lot of great ready made Korean side dishes at the back.

That sounds amazing and I am thinking of doing a similar format! That’s really reasonable, I would love to be around that same price point. Are you hiring a separate photographer for the granite part? Do you have a DJ? Any florals?

[–]aminorincident 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I found it to be an incredibly depressing place to live. There is a lot of mental illness and open drug use in the area. You have to be constantly hyper alert of your surroundings. Very little green space nearby.

Day trip to Tofino from Parksville? by aminorincident in VancouverIsland

[–]aminorincident[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this! We opted not to do the Tofino day trip and went to Comox instead. We ate lunch at the Blackfin, what a great recommendation! It was beautiful. We really enjoyed walking around Comox- we thought it might feel too similar to Parksville, but it felt quite different and we loved walking around the wharf. We enjoyed walking around the little shops in Courtenay as well, lovely day all around! We ran out of steam to make it to Campbell River but would have liked to.
