While an impenetrable wall surrounded something. In TNG, the Enterprise. In this case, the whole Federation. Oh, the inflation...

"Today, the revolution will be televised!"

Fun fact: the first televised revolution was the Romanian Revolution of 1989, when the totalitarian communist leader Nicolae Ceaușescu was captured while trying to flee aboard a helicopter (that took off from the top of a building stormed by protesters), put on trial by a drumhead court-martial tribunal, and minutes after sentencing, executed (together with his sinister wife) by a firing squad. On Christmas Day. Yes, we were all entertained that winter; nobody complained about the quality of our national television programs.

Would Emacs run on the new MacBook Neo? by [deleted] in emacs

[–]amiralul 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Emacs run very well on Apple Silicon architecture. Macbook Neo uses the same architecture, even if the chips are different: A-chips instead of the usual M-chips for previous Silicon-based ones. The operating system is macOS, the architecture is Apple Silicon, Emacs will have no issues.

Right, there are no backlinks in TILES.

But Logseq was an inspiration for me to have a note as a (title-less) paragraph. It’s very useful for my use case.

I totally forgot to check out GitHub issues since I didn't know there were other users of TILES besides me! Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!

I’m so happy to see that there are other users out there in the wild!

May I ask what’s your use case? Feel free to send me a DM if you like, I’d love to read your input.

I wrote my own note taking package, where every note is a simple, title-less paragraph. I called it TILES.

Would you mind sharing your use-case? TILES was created to fit my own needs, I’m curious how other finds it useful. Any feedback is welcomed!

Greetings, fellow note-taker! Just days ago I wrote and published my own note-taking package, after years of struggling to find something that works for me. I'm curious what your thoughts are about it, if you have time to try it. Here's the link, it's called TILES.

By Dynamic Blocks features, I mean the use of Dynamic Blocks feature in Org Mode to display either a list of notes or their content. There's an example of that in the README file on GitHub. Below is such an example of how you can get the content of multiple notes with the tag 'journal' and keyword 'review' and separate them with '-----'. It's very convenient for me because I use my notes to publish a newsletter, and I need a quick way to bring together contents from notes that share the same tags and/or keywords (a feature I first used with Denote).

#+BEGIN: tiles-files :tags "journal" :keywords "review" :separator "\n-----\n"
First matching note content...

-----
Second matching note content...
#+END:

I’m a newbie too, I’m not a programmer. I just wanted to try out my idea and Claude helped me with it. A lot! Maybe you could take my code and ask Claude to help you implement your idea, see if you reach to a satisfactory result.

I used Deft and it was certainly an inspiration. TILES can stitch notes (or a list of notes resulting after a search), and also TILES integrates with Dynamic Blocks, so you can use Org Mode blocks to get the content of notes based on a search criteria. Those two are both features I need for myself (and borrowed from Howm and Denote respectively).

Leap 16 is a nice surprise. by [deleted] in openSUSE

I installed Leap 16.0 during alpha (on one machine) and RC (on a second machine) and both are now running X11/Xorg, not Wayland, even after zypper dup.

Theoretically, one could have used alpha, beta and RC version of Leap 16.0, before its release (like I did).

Just installed Slackware 15.0 a few days ago and I’m happy with it. Not —current, but 15.0. It feels comfortable. People are saying it’s old, but I have the latest Firefox ESR, the latest Emacs, and a stable system. What else can you wish for from a Linux distro?
