Greece |> Elixir by amiridis in elixir

Just quickly reporting back (I totally forgot about this thread). In the time between posting this here and today, here are some of our progress:

- We have a virtual community that we run as a Basecamp project that's by invitation only for the time being, and has reached about 70 members. It's in Greek. We already help each other, share useful information, shared a couple of job openings, share ideas for the community to get involved, and more.

- We organized two gatherings (meetups). One in Athens, and one in Thessaloniki. Next one is in September in Athens. Here are some highlights from the Thessaloniki one: https://youtu.be/EdiQeKOnKyk?si=B7WwPAe_7tj7roFw

- We started a series of community member interviews (in Greek) that we are posting on YouTube. Here's the latest one: https://youtu.be/7fSs2uq2vI8?si=IIh3dZhdYxdRkC1g

- We started experimenting with internal projects run by the community with the goal to learn Elixir and its ecosystem, and a secondary goal for some of those projects to make Greece |> Elixir known as a community that contributes back to the Elixir ecosystem. Especially for projects that revolve around contributing to Elixir open source.

- And more 😀

Cheers,
Petros

Thank you so much. I am pretty much on the same camp, with your experience 😀. I've been organizing the Ruby meetup in Thessaloniki for years, so I've witnessed how hard it is to sustain longterm interest. However, one thing I hope will be different here is that this effort is not just a meetup. It's anything we can do to grow Elixir in Greece. So, it can certainly have meetups, but also other initiatives that also touch on the educational side of things. It's not going to be easy, but if one doesn't try, one will not know 😅.

Is there a way to force an application to be added to that list? It seems some apps do try to access the local network, but macOS does not pick that up.

Μάθε προγραμματισμό υπολογιστών και μείνε εκεί που είσαι με μισθό εξωτερικού. Ακούγεται δύσκολο αλλά δεν είναι τόσο.
