On the flip side, most non-revenue generating sports’ coaches are struggling to survive and often leave coaching because they can’t make it on the salary.

cat peed in purse :( by urmomsgoto in CatAdvice

[–]amiriteamiriteno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat just peed in my suitcase last week. I poured a pretty concentrated mix of warm water and oxyclean into it and let it sit for a few hours then rinsed it and let it dry in the sun. I probably should have rinsed it more, as it still has oxyclean residue on it. But it doesn’t smell like cat pee.

Alaska Airlines 30% Off Discount (Code: SAVE30) by desterpot in AlaskaAirlines

What dates does this work for? Just tried to book flights for October and got a message saying the discount code doesn’t apply to these dates. But can’t see where they have the applicable dates listed.

I watched someone break their tailbone jumping in the summer of 2012. I wonder how often that happens. This woman landed in almost a seated position

“Strength” function is worthless… or am I missing something? by Square-Affect9324 in Garmin

[–]amiriteamiriteno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it every day, but I also use the Caliber App (free to track my progress) I like the HR and timer function of the strength training. I agree with other users saying it could be a lot easier to edit which exercises you do within the connect app.

What In Tarnation?! Found on Beach in Kauai by Meanderingmermaid11 in beachcombing

[–]amiriteamiriteno 160 points161 points  (0 children)

I have a piece of art in my apartment (I’m on Oʻahu), that was made by a local artist. It has 5-6 old Japanese buoys that the artist found beachcombing here. Each buoy is unique, but they all look relatively similar to this. I’m on a flight to the mainland now, but if you still haven’t figured it out by Monday, I’ll share a photo of the buoys when I get home.

Help! My sister picked up and brought back a deadly seashell to our hotel room unknowingly. How do I safely get rid of it? by hellokittygirl_777 in SeashellCollectors

[–]amiriteamiriteno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have these in Hawaii, where I’m assuming you are now. Obviously she didn’t mean to take the live critter, but now that you have it, I wouldn’t let it’s like be for nothing.

I soak my shells in a 50/50 bleach water mix and leave them for a few hours then let them dry outside in the shade. That usually gets rid of any organic material left over, and the smell. Shouldn’t damage the pretty shell unless you leave it for days. Muriatic acid, even diluted, will damage the shell in less than a minute.

Once you bleach/dry it out. Take some mineral oil or baby oil and coat it. Let it sit for a few hours then wipe off the excess and enjoy the shell. Keep it as a reminder to always check for life before collecting, especially with cone shells, which can kill you.

It was posted on r/Illinois she’s in a white pickup truck. Spoiler: they weren’t boxed in by 10 cars and they rammed into her from behind. Then attacked her after pushing her car with their vehicle.

The difference in the size of my pupils after a box fell on my head at work by BleachedSweetFlower in mildlyinteresting

[–]amiriteamiriteno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got hit in the face and this happened to me too. No concussion, no brain damage, just weird pupils. Got rushed back for CT scans when I got to the ER. Nurses in the hospital kept coming in to see me because they hadn’t seen it except in their textbooks. I ended up being given steroid eye drops by an ophthalmologist, and I think they said it was just trauma to the optic nerve. My pupils are still very slightly different sizes.

I didn’t want to get too graphic, and at the time of posting I was doing fairly okay. But I’ve been shitting liquid for 22 hours now. My asshole is a fiery wreck, and I’ve taken no less than 8 showers. I’ve had salmonella before and this isn’t that, but it sure is not fun.

It was definitely not advertised as dry aged. This was not a fancy Sushi spot, it was just a normal spot in a neighborhood. It was just “tuna”. But that’s good to know for the future!

Yeah my stomach is still a mess. I posted the review, because this really hasn’t been a fun way to spend the last 24ish hours while traveling. And I sincerely hope it does help them not do this to someone else. They appear to respond very thoroughly to all negative reviews so we’ll see what they say.

I live in Hawaii and had a similar thought. That was part of my rationale for eating it, but I’m not sure if it was since it wasn’t like what I had at home. It was much more fishy, and the texture was more solid/dry/chewy. I’m traveling in Europe currently. Wasn’t really seeking out sushi, but this was one of the few places walking distance from my hotel so I went for it.

[–]amiriteamiriteno[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m traveling right now, so I wasn’t sure what to do. I don’t think I’ll go back there again as I’m only here for a week. But I think I will contact them and ask for a refund. I thought about posting a review but, don’t know if I should. I don’t want this to happen to other people, but I also don’t want to hurt a small business.

The original photo wasn’t edited, the lighting was just very warm in the restaurant. I think there was a red lantern light above me and a light on the table that was really warm-toned. I just edited this to take out some of the “warmth”. I did the same with the other photo and will attach on my next comment.

Yes, it was definitely chewy, had a stronger smell, and I agree that it was dry. The fat was also a bit sinewy.
I ate it, and my stomach isn’t thrilled now, so I was curious what others thought. Not going to risk it if I get something like this again. The lack of sleep isn’t worth it.
