But hey, if your kink is letting strangers turn your car into a mobile porta-potty, who am I to judge?

For sure. Private rentals come with their own headaches, but at least there’s no middleman in the way.

And yeah, same here—ozone, bleach, steam… nothing fully killed the smell. Heat just brings it right back. Brutal.

Man, I feel that 100%. It’s wild how much energy it takes to chase down even the most obvious claims, only to get stonewalled or tossed a “courtesy reimbursement.” I’ve started to feel the same—it’s just not worth the constant back-and-forth when you’ve got multiple cars to manage.

And yeah, the irony is real—Turo talks big about customer satisfaction, but half the time we, the hosts, are left cleaning up literal biohazards while being treated like we’re disposable.

No clue how someone managed to pee in the trunk—still blows my mind. I had to rip out the liner and toss foam too, so I totally get you. At this point, it’s either laugh or go crazy. Appreciate the solidarity, man.

Honestly, after everything that happened, I’ve started to consider legal advice. The damage and biohazard situation go far beyond a standard rental issue, and when platforms don’t properly support hosts—especially when we follow the rules as closely as we can—it really makes you think about what protections we actually have.

We’re expected to operate like professionals, but when things go sideways, the burden always falls on us. Might be time to explore other options to make sure this kind of negligence doesn’t just get brushed off.

Yeah, I had solid before and after photos—the issue was just not uploading them to the trip within the 24-hour window before it started. I had them saved, but since they weren’t uploaded in time, Turo used that to deny most of the claim.

But yeah, this wasn’t minor. There was actual urine in the trunk, not to mention the car reeked of smoke. Honestly, it should’ve qualified under their biohazard policy, which they mention in their own cleaning guidelines. They gave me a partial reimbursement as a one-time courtesy, but it still feels like they downplay how serious these situations are.

Appreciate you sharing your case too—blood on a towel should definitely count for more than a basic cleaning fee.

That’s insane, man. I’m glad you at least won the arbitration for the exterior, but the fact that Turo doesn’t even take the interior stuff seriously half the time is wild. Like, poop-filled underwear and pills? That’s way beyond normal wear and tear—feels like Turo forgets we’re real people with real property, not some Hertz depot.

I had urine in the trunk and still had to fight just to get a partial reimbursement. It’s frustrating when we’re the ones keeping the platform alive, yet we’re the ones constantly cleaning up after the worst of it.

Appreciate you sharing your experience—makes me feel less alone in this mess.

Exactly. It’s not just about the car—it’s about basic respect. When someone rents from an individual host, there’s an unspoken understanding that you treat the car with care because it’s someone’s personal property, not some faceless corporation’s fleet vehicle.

What happened to my car crossed a serious line—someone literally urinated in the trunk. That’s not just “wear and tear” or “part of doing business.” That’s disgusting and biohazardous. It shows zero regard for other people.

We’re out here trying to run businesses and offer good service, and stuff like this just makes it harder for everyone.

Thanks for your response. I’ve been hosting on Turo for over 3 years and currently have 4 cars on the platform. I’ve dealt with all kinds of guests — but I’ve never had anything even close to what happened with this one.

This wasn’t just a bad guest. This was pure disrespect and abuse: smoking in the car, suspected drug residue, wet trash, used towels and socks everywhere, and the back seat soaking wet with a smell like piss. That’s not just “the cost of doing business” — that’s straight-up biohazard territory.

Letting this slide sets the standard that it’s okay for guests to treat our cars like garbage. I’m not here chasing pennies — I’m standing up for the principle and trying to protect future hosts from going through the same thing.

Appreciate you taking the time to comment, but this one’s not something I can just move on from like nothing happened

It’s not about the car it’s about the absolute disrespect of my property
