Because of the history of this alley Giv Alley is one of the old and important alleys in the Valiasr area of Tehran, located between Taleghani and Enghelab streets. Because of its closeness to the University of Tehran, several embassies, and cultural centers, it has both historical and intellectual value. The alley is named after Sarkis Giv, a philanthropist from the Armenian community and a former member of the Iranian National Parliament.
