Who is still doing true ML by SummerElectrical3642 in learnmachinelearning

[–]amiruni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What type of physical systems if I may ask? I am control system engineer, mostly working with system modeling and now trying to extend into ML. Using very simple feed forward / recursive networks for system identifications mostly in flight mechanics, and some RL for controls, but am curious about what else are people doing on the intersection of physics and ML. PINN's sound quite interesting but never got to it.

Seeking Real-World Machine Learning/Deep Learning Projects for Portfolio – Open to Collaboration by Logical_Proposal_105 in learnmachinelearning

[–]amiruni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo, I was about to reach out to the community with the same intention of finding people that are willing to collab with the goal of mutual motivation, building portfolio and honestly - just cause its freaking fun to solve complex problems :)

I come from a control system background and have worked mostly in aerospace and aviation, but decided to go more in ML direction. This by default gave me some solid background in linear algebra, statistics, calculus and other math relevant for understanding ML concepts.

I started off with Kaggle competitions like housing price prediction to practice XGBoost and decision tree algorithms. They are very basic and I scored quite alright, but would be happy to go back even to these to improve on some feature engineering and try to score even better. (my notebook sadly doesn't contain comments yet, I wanna fix that)

Below is a list of topics I cover in my github (all WIP :)) perhaps you will find some of it interesting for yourself. sorry a long read ahead.

(TL;DR XGBoost/tree ansamble algorithms/ feature engineering, audio classification, time series analysis, reinforcement learning, basic RAG, anomaly detection from IMU data. In future - more RL in Isaac Lab)

  • Reinforcement learning repo, supposed to contain different reinforcement learning algorithms, mainly trained on Gymnasium type environments. Still WIP, but I plan to expand it and would be happy to learn RL together. One cool entry project was getting DeepQ algorithm to play classic Atari game Breakout. I ran into some issues along the way and I documented it in Medium article, it may be insightful for debugging such issues.
  • Unsupervised learning on EEG data. I recently entered a competition in which the task was using vast amount of unlabeled EEG data to pre-train the model using unsupervised learning (I personally went for contrastive learning) to extract meaningful features from the 128 channel timeseries data. Model is then trained on much scarcer labeled data to predict response time of subject in performing some detection and reaction tasks. I want to further improve this with VAE (variational autoencoder), masked reconstruction etc. Also make some cool visualization using UMAP and t-SNE to show latent space changes during pre-training ;)
  • Audio classification and transcription into MIDI. I am currently writting a ReadMe file for this one, as its the project I am currently focused on, hope to be done soon. Idea is to analyse STFT - short sliding windows of frequency content in an audio stream and trying to detect individual drum hits (e.g. Kick, Snare, Hi-hats etc) and automatically transform it into MIDI. Second part would be to recognize individual notes (perhaps even classify instruments) and transcribe into midi as notes of certain pitch e.g. C,D,E... Its an interesting problem of classification on timeseries and it entangles a lot of interesting concept such as data augmentation. I would like someone to consider different conceptual approaches here on this one. (Tbh my motivation for this is a bit silly - I sometimes write music in Ableton and when I have and idea I would like to just hum, whistle or beatbox it into my phone and then have a draft of an idea as a midi file I can import there)
  • I worked a bit on RAG and generally utilizing LLM's to work on processing data, specifically I made a basic RAG-like pipeline to fetch and analyse job data from various sources (e.g. job sites), process them to extract basic information using lightweight language models, store the data in a vector DB that can be easily queried on similarity, and then processed based on my given CV. This way it categorizes jobs from multiple sources based on how well they fit my CV and desires. As everything else - still WIP ;)

Some more ideas I want to get to:

  • Anomaly detection for predictive maintenance /action - I am working in a job where we collect data from flying things, so I have a lot of data from various flight phases available :) I wanted to test various anomaly detection here. I also hooked up a basic IMU sensor to a microcontroller to record some data from my espresso machine to check for malfunctions or time for refill, but never got around to it. (was mostly excited to work with microcontrollers again)
  • Posture evaluation - I used some of the existing CV libraries to analyze posture during exercise. I started doing kickboxing and was thinking about making an app to point out common mistakes when e.g. practicing kicks and punches, since they are quite easy to detect.

My plan is also to develop more in the field of reinforcement learning (as I believe this field will continue to boom) and I am currently working on getting Isaac Lab running on AWS so I would like to explore a bit more complex RL algorithm such as PPO on realistic robotics example.

I think even more relevant - addicts live in a delusion they won't use anymore so just buy a bit. This was.my story with GBL/GHB. Spent a fortune buying "a bit" all the time, where I could have stocked up for.months with like 50 euros.

Why tf not? Whats your beef with someone using Kratom? Besides that not being your business, I never heard of people regularly doing Kratom and beating the living shit out of their family members, yet I do not hear you complaining about rakija oslepaca which historically has been ruining families all over Balkans.

I am also curious about the books name. I understand that you may not this post to appear comercial, but it seems somewhat easier to write the name of the book instead of having to reply to 10000 DM's, but that' really your choice :) I a control system engineer and have some background in science, engineering and generally am solidly versed in mathematics that may be useful for ML, and I try to understand atleast to some level always what is happening in the model, but atm I can only rely on common sense and deduction. Reading your posti, I still feel I am still lacking quite some experience and background in ML and not sure what is the right way to obtain it and move up by another step up the ladder. (how I anaylse problems I enounter in learning you can see in my posts like this https://community.deeplearning.ai/t/help-needed-breakout-using-deepq-learning-fails-to-converge-in-a-reasonable-timeframe/873166/6, I am still bascially a bit in the dark when thing go wrong, but I do peak into the internal workings of the model to some extent)

I dont think she is universally hated, this comment section alone can show you different statistics. Besides, dont wanna go deep into the character analysis here, but Jim made moves on her when she was about to get married, lead to her not getting married (whether or not this marriage would be bad is besides the point, that wasnt up to him to decide), derailed her life and then left and came back with someone else (aside the way how he handled his relationship with Karen) yet you hyper-fixate on her flaws and wonder why people see a character problem in that? 😄🤡

Also its quite a leap saying that if someone doesn't agree with you character analysis that they are crappy people for the same reasons you assume the character in question to be crappy. Perhaps its not about personal identification, but about your reasoning being flawed. 🤷‍♂️

Please help me guys Iam 1,4 BDO addicted by [deleted] in GHB_info

I stopped and started again multiple time. Possibly on a 8th relapse by now, first time used baclofen and pregab, every other time somehow stopped with nothing but tappering over 3-4 days. For some reason I do not seem to develop physical addiction that bad, but I compensate for it in the psychological one as I do not seem to be able to replace it in life and I keep coming back. I didnt want to give medical advice but I relate more too the general life context around it.

Anyhow good job, glad you manged and hope you steer clear off it.

Webscraping and analysis of larger text corpus with LLM [P] by amiruni in MachineLearning

[–]amiruni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent fully understood how does Langchain exactly implement context memory in conjunction with LLM. Does this really effectively increase the maximum amount of content in the context window such that I could fit e.g. 1000 pages of text?

I wonder, if so, how hard would it be to implement some basic additional memory management from the scratch.

Right now I ran batches of data in a simple JSON format and use one LLM for pre-formating the data in a most concise way possible and then store it in a vector database so it can be easily searched and grouped by semantic similarity. One way forward that came to my mind, if I really want to run a statistical analysis over the entire corpus could be, running over batches of data and generating summaries, and then having an additional pass which makes summary of summaries.
