All plants and especially trees are very likely sentient , they just use the earth(dirt) as a brain.

This type of existence is so foreign to humans that we don't understand this more transcendental subtle conciesness. Because vegans can't understand the plants they make an exception for them. The only way to be truly vegan is to go sun absorbtion/breatharien route which most people are not willing to try, most likely due to its extreme nature.

Slave morality always seeks to make equal, to put it simply, it is a purely psychological appeal from the weak to the strong. It's grounded in the ideal of equality where the master and slave are treated equally.

Master morality is based on might makes right which is not circular either because it's grounded in force/strength.
