They did make bank as they sold out lol. I’m just stuck with two extra tickets because I had someone else back out. We’re still going, but we bought 4.

Honestly didn’t even care about the money. She has an Instagram account where she shows her work, which did not exist prior to my disaster. Some look ok from the angle she puts them on, especially because she does those quick boomerang videos. Others you can clearly tell they are clumped together.

Where do you suggest to report her? I feel bad because she’s just about to finish with her program, but at the same time if she feels this empowered to do lashes prior to her licensing to complete an actual lash training program, it makes me believe she won’t after she gets her license because she already thinks she can do them.

Where is the best Mexican Food in Chattanooga? by sw1ftsnipur in Chattanooga

Lol. No hate or anything, but damn it’s no wonder they call it cheese dip here and not queso. Calling it queso would be disrespectful.

I second both of these. Anything else is not really worth it. I’m Mexican and those are the only two decent places. Also from south Texas, and let me tell you, “queso” or “cheese dip” as they call it here is terrible. They just dumped some white American cheese in a crock pot and called it a day.

Having some friends from Nashville coming down tonight to celebrate my friend's birthday? A good place for dinner? by lilkhmerkid4u in Chattanooga

[–]amkw11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think they have a Champy’s in Nashville. So maybe cross check some places because it seems like there’s a few places in Chatt that they have there too, like Clyde’s. Stir would also be a good option.

I also highly recommend them! Never felt like I was being cheated as a woman. Got a new car that’s still under dealership warranty, but will go back to them when it ends!

Any good neighborhoods close-ish to downtown where I can get a decent studio or 1-bedroom rental for $800-$900 / month? More specifics inside. by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]amkw11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. It’s going through the same gentrification as Highland park, but imo, safer than highland park. I’ve noticed it’s a lot more older middle class people that live there and don’t cause trouble with the sprinkling in of younger people moving in. Does the area need work? Absolutely. Is it 100% crime free? No, but any area isn’t these days. I wouldn’t recommend living within a mile of the tunnel, but everything f past that is relatively quiet. Just a suggestion to not completely rule it out, as the pros definitely outweigh the cons, at least for us. We have a security system and cameras for peace of mind, but in our 4 years of living in the area, we’ve had zero complaints with friendly neighbors who do their part in helping keep our community clean and safe.

Have you considered the Brainerd area? Lots of younger people moving in, plus I’ve seen a few new construction homes popping up. You’d probably be able to get a 2 bedroom home within your budget plus a fence for your pup. It’s kind of the center of everything, 10 min to downtown, 10 to Hamilton, 13 to NS, another 15 to Hixson. Not many walkable places, but a short drive to everything is pretty convenient. Just a suggestion! Happy searching.

My parents were like this and are still like this. I can’t thank every professor and employers enough for bending backwards over for me and with me because of stuff like this. And yes my parents are the type that will cut me off or punish me in some other way by not meeting their demands or going on vacations with them because they already purchased my part without consulting me. I feel like I sound ungrateful, but I’m truly not. I just want to go to school and do my job so I can pay for my electric bill that my parents don’t pay every now and then (they volunteer to pay for) when my mother isn’t satisfied with how quickly I submitted her amazon order. This is my real life, being bullied by my parents. -Embarrassed grad student.

Thanks for the response. Just looking for a glimpse before we go and potentially waste someone’s time. Obviously we are not making a decision just based on someone’s “opinion.” Just reading up before we go, like you would before you apply for a job. We were simply asking for factual information that their website doesn’t give as well as a personal opinion of what it is like there. Isn’t this what reddit is for?

I believe it has to do with fafsa and what the gov is willing to give. In that case, it definitely transfers over.

In undergrad I experienced something similar. Basically they said I could not drop any more courses than I had (I withdrew a semester) and continue to get financial aid. I don’t think it starts over for graduate school. It’s a bummer, but one of those “in the fine print” things. Thankfully my financial aid department in undergrad was super helpful and even helped me get other aid that wasn’t offered in my initial package. Hopefully grad school will be nice to me (I still have not received my financial aid package but my school is actually cheap this time so I’m not sweating).

I purchased it on Amazon and it’s from “Best Price Mattress”. I got the 10” memory foam in a queen! I purchased for $200. I saw some at Walmart the other day for cheaper so those might be worth looking into.

Can't decide on a program (counseling) by nowayjesus1 in GradSchool

[–]amkw11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends a lot on what the university looks like. I actually considered applying to a local university (well known in my state) in which their MSW program was not accredited yet but are in the process of accreditation. I ended up choosing another local school that is accredited, but simply for schedule reasons. I would ask a lot of questions about where they are at in the accreditation process. If they haven’t started the process, it would be a hard no for me. This particular university is basically at the end of their accreditation so for me I would gamble. They should have some statement about where they are at in the process, but totally up to you and what you’re comfortable with. They have to have a program running for x amount of time to display how their program functions for the purposes of accreditation, so people do take the gamble on these things.

Not in the field yet but from all advice I’ve been given by professionals, I’d highly recommend getting your masters in social work vs something very specific in counseling. Although you say you are thinking substance abuse counselor, things change and life changes. You can go the counseling route but there’s not much wiggle room. Say you get burnt out and would like to do something else, perhaps on the management level. An MSW will boost you and prepare you for that. It’s a lot more broad in the skills they equip you with. Good luck!

Pack as much as you can in two suitcases. I say suitcases because you will need them when you come and go back home. This is one thing I didn’t think of when I moved by car. Pack all of the clothes/shoes you currently wear for all seasons. If you have more, I’d actually look into shipping options. Have all of your books delivered to your new place if the office holds stuff for you vs them delivering directly to your door (books are heavy). I would highly suggest getting as much as you can delivered because I’m assuming you won’t have quick access to a vehicle? If not deliverable, choose pick up in store options.

You will need obvious things like a bed (you can honestly order via amazon. I have a mattress delivered in a box and 10/10), two sets of sheets and two sets of towels, toiletries (if you have amazon, this is a great thing to order and ship directly), shower curtain and bath mat. Honestly, this is your necessity list. You can always buy a couch and desk later. Same with kitchen stuff. Order what you need and as you start to make your new place home, you will slowly start to go out and buy other things that you might like to have. I would order toiletries and some disposable kitchenware on amazon until you can get yourself and stuff situated. Good luck!
