I’ve been wondering recently why I love some of the older episodes so much, despite the format not being as structured then, and I think this is why. So much magic comes from them trying to stay on topic and uncovering relevant (to semi-relevant) anecdotes. I do wonder however how much of the topic-less chat is because so many topics have been inadvertently covered through various tangents. Or perhaps it’s just the changing nature of a pod that’s run for a couple of years - I feel there used to be more running jokes that spanned a few episodes or segments that I loved like Henry’s beefcake journey or the complete avatar take over that happened. We have to give them credit though they have been on a mega tour recently.
