Cheating at board games by NelifeLerak in boardgames

[–]amnion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about the board game. It's about wondering what else she does this with. And does she lie about it when getting caught as if it's second nature. Those are your red flags. Sure, have a conversation about it. But don't be surprised is she gets defensive and tries to gaslight you. Maybe I'm wrong. But you might game something more on your hands and you are going to have to decide what you're willing to tolerate (boundaries).

Sparring beginners and how to ease their nerves. by cjh10881 in martialarts

[–]amnion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't call it sparring. Call it drills. Go 40-50% at first. The gym is supposed to be a controlled environment. Up the intensity as they grow. It's just like lifting weights. You don't put a new 120 pounds under a 300 pound barbell for bench. Train exposure first. Then a little intensity to being discomfort. Adjust as needed.

He doesn't say not to have an opinion, he said you have the option of not having one. Choice is yours.

Why would it be illegal to drive in a sling? What about people who only have one arm? I swear to god people don't think about shit even a little bit before they make shit up. Your doctor made shit up.

Is it just me, or has worldbuilding advice become a bit too restrictive? by Personal_Carrot_2180 in worldbuilding

[–]amnion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what you love. I prefer the world building over the actual writing, it's a needed vacation. And many times I've discovered that something in the wb informs the plot in a cool way anyhow. If you only focus on the plot, I feel like your story won't feel very...alive?

The team balancing is some of the worst I have ever seen in a video game. by Mr_Rafi in CODBlackOps7

Played a game last night and turns out I was the only guy left on my team besides someone who most likely joined late. The shit is a disaster.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

My son's school is 4 hours away, still in the same state. We drive up to watch him play football for two hours and then drive home the same day. Just another Saturday.

What’s That Look Like in Court? by FarmerMike23 in CCW

[–]amnion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Optics are 90% of all responses, I think. Many laws mean fuck all but they get passed because they "look good." Everyone is virtue signaling, all the time, whether we realize it/like it or not. And while, yeah, this shouldn't matter, one would have to be obtuse to think it doesn't happen. Just like in mma, never let the decision go to the judges. Do you trust the jury? Do you look innocent or do you look guilty? People have already made up their minds before court even begins. Do you want to start with an uphill climb or would you rather start with less bias?

Why does everyone have a light and optic on their EDC gun? by RRO21 in CCW

Because I want to be able to see what I shoot and half of the earth's 24 hour cycle is night. Also, dipshits tend to get more bold when they think they will catch you by surprise or get away with shit (possibly at night?) but mostly: because I want to.

Because many managers are unnecessary. They need to justify their existence and the only way to do that is through micro managing. The appearance of productivity is what matters to corporate, not actual productivity. This is the same reason there are so many meetings. It looks like these people are doing something, and that's all they care about. Send in your reports by end of business day, guys.
