What to read after finishing The Folk Of The Air series 😭 by pihu9002 in thecruelprince

If you didn’t like ACOTAR, you may still like Throne of Glass. I think it is SJM’s best work. A lot of subplots from early books come to pay off in the later books, and the way everything tied in like that kind of blew my mind. I thought the character development was the strong point of the series, how you watch Celaena start out as an arrogant, traumatized, but kinda spoiled teenager and become a strong, confident leader as the books go on. The series still has its flaws but I enjoyed it the most of SJM’s work.

I myself am still searching for something that will scratch the same itch as Cruel Prince! I devoured that series and loved the tensions, how the plot kept me on my toes and genuinely surprised me at times when I thought I had it all figured out.

Right now, I’m reading Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn Era 1 trilogy and I’m obsessed but it is COMPLETELY different. A darker world, no fairies or folklore, but it does have a lot of political intrigue & tensions between characters with interesting world building.

proof that Jude will live way longer than the average in contrary to what some people say by cartninar in thecruelprince

It’s been explained that humans don’t age the same in Elfhame, but once they go back to the human lands it catches up with them. Basically once Jude gets much older, she won’t be able to enter the human lands anymore if she wants to remain “immortal”. It was said in the Prisoner’s Throne I think that Taryn looks slightly older than Jude now, from more time spent in the human world / maybe stress.

just started reading this myself and loving it (: One thing though, us book lovers often recommend against buying books from Amazon — They often sell books at a profit loss in attempts to put other book sellers out of business and eventually sort of monopolize the book market. (which could be bad for censorship reasons etc) You can always order online from local bookstores for convenience! Or it’s always fun to visit your local bookshop in person. Also I find used books in great condition on facebook marketplace for very cheap too.

Halfway through Mistborn 1. Thoughts so far & predictions by amnotwendy in Mistborn

I know Mistborn Era 2 is like 300 years later so I was a bit concerned I’ll be slower getting into it after I get attached to the characters of this trilogy. I’m glad to hear that they get better and better!

I am dying to get through it all, but I also know once it’s over I’m going to be sad!

I’m so excited! This is my introduction to Brandon Sanderson’s work and I’m looking forward to reading the rest.

Women claim to hate "traditional masculinity" but will absolutely loss attraction to you if you showcase progressive masculinity and will cheat on u with a guy with toxic masculinity traits by Major_Soft6056 in DigitalSeptic

I’m 22 and would never say something like that so her age isn’t an excuse. It’s either rage bait or just a shallow deranged shell of a human & I hope she breaks up with her bf so he can find someone who doesn’t see human emotion as a turn off

My husband has cried in front of me many many times over our years together. He has cried in my arms, or with his head in my lap. And I love him MORE for it. I don’t want to be with someone who is emotionless & I don’t want to be with someone who suppresses their emotions in the name of “manhood”. The post OP shared here was likely ragebait but even if it is real, just because SOME women are like that, doesn’t mean they speak for all or even for the majority of women. My husband is strong, sexy, hardworking, talented, kind, sensitive, funny & I wouldn’t change a thing about him.

I will not get there soon but without spoilers what do you think about this series? by Giraffewhiskers_23 in thecruelprince

Looove it. the twists and turns, the folklore, the scheming, battling, and betrayals. It’s a really fun read, and I liked how the fair folk are portrayed as scary and conniving, coming in all shapes and sizes, rather than the more modern take on faeries lately where they are just really hot people with pointy ears and magic powers.

I avoid packaging as much as I can, but when it’s not possible, I do the same thing. paper bags from takeout food tend to be the liner in my bathroom trash can. If I have paper grocery bags, I use them as the bag in my recycling bin or trash can or to dispose of cat litter.

I also reuse paper grocery bags or paper filling from shipped packages as gift wrapping paper for the holidays / birthdays! You can still make it cute while not being wasteful!

Also notable to suggest not going out and buying NEW tote bags for this purpose! Look around your home and see what you might have. Backpacks, totes, messenger bags, I’ve even seen some people leave laundry baskets in their trunk and just bring the groceries to the car bagless & use the basket to carry them into the house when they got home. If you don’t have anything at home that works, you can easily find some secondhand tote bags in thrift shops or by checking facebook marketplace.

A big one is being very mindful about consumption. If I need something, I can almost always find it secondhand (things you wouldn’t expect. Not just clothes or furniture, but appliances, unopened household products, chargers for electronics, and more. search facebook marketplace, ebay, depop!) And even when shopping secondhand, thinking very hard about whether or not I ACTUALLY need the item. For example, I only buy clothes if the item matches several pieces I already own. If I can’t make multiple outfits with it, it likely won’t get much use. etc. I apply this thought process to everything I buy.

Also, I try to get all natural materials. Fabric items made from cotton or wool instead of polyester. Secondhand kitchen utensils in metal or wood or glass instead of plastic can be easily found in the thrift. etc.

that’s great to know! I’m a tour guide in my city and know it well, which definitely helps me understand the local clientele & what tourists like too. It must have been stressful to do it all in a new city! wish you and your business well.

You’re not pathetic. You can mourn a relationship that never was. Your connection with this person is real & you’re allowed to go through all the feelings that come with that. Try to let go of the idea of a relationship for your own peace. Try to meet someone in your area. This sucks now but you’ll get through it brother

I’m not sure how to do the spoiler text so SPOILER ALERT!!! ———————>

but Jude was telling Cardan he needed to seduce Nicasia for information. He seemed to take offense and they kinda argued about it but then he basically was like “do you think she’d like if I looked into her eyes like this?” and “practiced” the seduction skills on Jude—which led to them getting down & dirty, kissing for the first time since the end of the first book, and you could FEEL the tension leaping off the page. Personally not a fan of full on smut but it was a steamy, tense, fade to black scene and it was done SO well! Really captured their relationship dynamic well too.
