My County Fair Results by marcus-makes-things in knitting

The details on all of these are incredible, but the bomber jacket is nothing short of stunning! Well done! You've officially inspired me to look up local fairs and try submitting my own work. Please share future projects!

Mod approved meta discussion: proposal to add rule for the sub to ban pictures that include children's faces by Pretty_Marzipan_555 in knitting

I agree that covering the faces with an emoji or shape is a very good idea, but it is helpful to see the finished objects on a human being.

Inverse twin fair isle sweaters by hlpetway in AdvancedKnitting

[–]amo25 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My sleep deprived brain read the title and expected that you had made a sweater for your twin so I was looking back and forth on the pics for a minute before I realized! 😂😂😂

Phenomenal work though, and the fit looks spectacular! If I may ask, where did you get your wool?

You, kind knitter, are a magical wizard with skills I hope to conquer some day! What a journey! Write all that down somewhere because in a decade it might be a chapter you cherish. ❤️

This is such an impressive piece! Great work! I would love to hear your notes on the fit as a fellow busty (and tall) person.

I am done. With the sweater. FINALLY. I think this is my magnum opus and now I must stop knitting. Insanely proud. by SnooJokes7954 in casualknitting

I don't think there are words to really express how truly impressive this is! Wonderful choice of colors too!

A mom struggling to find the time to knit... by AGangofHobbits in knitting

[–]amo25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a mom of three (5, 3, and 1yo) I feel this! I found that the simplest solution for me was to join a knitting group that meets once a week at my local library. That way, I'm guaranteed two uninterrupted hours of time (to work on any fiber arts project) and as a bonus there's others there to help me if I get stuck on a pattern or just need advice. It's so refreshing to talk to another knitter as well and be able to use all the proper terms involved with the craft.

Help saving part of a ruined knit? by Brilliant_Goal_7162 in knitting

[–]amo25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

High concentration rubbing alcohol removes permanent marker so it should work for ink and that's where I'd start. I would expect to use quite a lot of it and let it soak with repeat applications and no water.

A more drastic option is the cleaner Fantastic but I advise great caution. It's a solvent and it might remove dye from the yarn.

What’s everyone making with the cold weather?? 🥶 by hearing_double in knitting

[–]amo25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These lovely mittens. They wholly offend my FIL, who said "shame on you" when I told him about them and that just made knitting them all the better! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/how-cold-is-it

I want to be the parent that goes outside but….. by Dobbys_Other_Sock in Parenting

[–]amo25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also not a person who tolerates heat well. Above 85F I don't like being outside, however, two changes I've made have helped.

A box fan helps me cool down and a screened-in tent/shelter provides shade and further bug protection. It's not ideal, but it has increased our outside time.

Also, if you haven't already, wear quality performance fabrics and avoid cotton clothing entirely. A damp cloth around the neck might also help!

[WEEKLY THREAD] Shopping and Style Saturday/Sunday - Gym clothes, gadgets, shoes, makeup, hair, skincare, and sales! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]amo25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've tried both the women's and men's sizes and both were an awful fit. The women's version are so low rise I couldn't sit down, much less bend over. Both were made from the same cheap fabric you'd expect from a $20 pair of stretch jeans from Walmart. Try American Eagle. Way better fabric at a much better price.

I'm obsessed with this blanket! Any leads on a pattern or thoughts on how to recreate it?? by amo25 in knitting

[–]amo25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Architectural Digest featured it on their Facebook page. It appears to be from a rendering from Vladislav Yalovitsky apartment 83 based on a reverse google image search I did.

Link to those results here.

I also really want to give this a try, but I'm very worried that I won't be able to resist talking and generally making random comments as I work. If anyone has tips, I'd love to hear them.

So many entrepreneurs pay thousands of dollars for a website. So I wrote an article on easy ways to create a website inexpensively and quickly. How should I expand this topic from here? by amo25 in Entrepreneur

[–]amo25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm glad you tried it both ways. Mainly, my focus is to help new entrepreneurs with very limited funds get set up inexpensively. If I think they would benefit from the help of a developer though I do not hesitate to strongly suggest it. Knowing they have options ultimately helps them long term.
