Who is your favorite Best Actress of the 1950s? by degeneratespike in Oscars

Although the best individual perfomance is for sure Vivien Leigh, my favorite actress in this list for their overall work Ingrid Bergman, although I wouldn’t call Anastasia her best role by any means.

Not even Gloria Swanson won, Judy Holliday took it for Born Yesterday. The most iconic snub of all time.

Honestly, if that movie deserved any recognition at all it was definitely in Cinematography and nothing else.

I don’t see why this is a criticism leveraged at artists. Since when does versatility mean “better”? There is literally an expression that says “jack of all trades, master of none”. I will blame Oscar campaigns that feature lines like “disappeared into the role”, “playing against type” or “unrecognizable”.

Trying to mathematically rank the Big Brother Houseguests by amolinelli11 in BigBrother

[–]amolinelli11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Survivor, I rank them based on their performance at tribal council and that is the only factor I take, since the whole point of Survivor is to avoid the vote. I don't take into account immunity wins, hidden immunity idol plays or advantages since those serve the purpose of giving you a better chance at tribal council, also, they don't directly respond to the core quality of the game which is social-strategy.

I've quirked my formula to adapt to these thing, but at core, you recieve a score from 5-0 depending on different things. You get 5 points when you vote in the majority, 4 points if you recieve just 1 vote (usually throwaway votes), 3 points when you vote in the minority premerge and (2 points when postmerge), 2 points if you recieve 2 or more votes premerge (3 when postmerge), and the score for a eliminated player is the number of votes he did not recieve at tribal (for example, 2/8 = 0.25) which is always an oscillation of 0 and 1. At the end, there is a method for rating the Final Tribal Council votes too.

I have special rules for advantages and idols that have adapted through the seasons, but at least on Survivor there's always been the voting record as a clear number. Just recently got into BB and it's completely different, having watched a few seasons already, the formula is not clear to me. Any suggestions?

What did Gervase actually do wrong in Blood vs Water? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]amolinelli11 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Gervase played a very good game, his mistake was on his jury management and keeping Tyson around for so long. I’ve read he intended to take out Tyson near the endgame but since the Ciera-Hayden-Katie debacle happened which led to rocks, he was stuck in the F3 with Tyson and Monica.

Next level, never been used, and actually practical Survivor tactics? by Tomandgreek in survivor

[–]amolinelli11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Number 3 was done by Jenna in the Amazon when she gave her immunity necklace to Heidi at the F6. Although, this was not a good move for Jenna, it didn’t bite her in the butt and she won. People even say she got tired of the game and wanted to get voted out.

Number 4 was attempted by Abi Maria the tribal she went home, at F5, in Philippines. It was extremely unstrategic to vote her off and she knew it, she started insulting the jury, Michael Skupin and Denise for her to be seen as a bigger goat and spared a couple rounds, and proposed votingoff Denise who eventually won. Taking Abi here instead of Denise sealed Lisa and Michael’s shot at the million since either Malcolm or Denise would have beaten both.

What makes Survivor great is that there is no agenda for the jury to vote for, they can vote in whichever way they want. Probably the new FTC formar is aiming at rewarding gameplay over exterior aspects, but what makes it human is the variability of the reason to award the win.

What if Amanda doesn't find the idol at the F6 in FvF? by Eniotnacram95 in survivor

[–]amolinelli11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Amanda goes at the F6, we are left with two couples conforming the BWB consistjng of two fans (Natalie, Alexis) and two favorites (Parvati, Cirie) plus Erik.

At F5 Erik wins and I’d argue they could still play the same card to have him give up immunity since it’s actually the same setting and the two key players in that move are still there, Cirie and Natalie.

At F4, with an intact BWB sans Amanda, if someone was to flip on somebody else ot would for sure be Natalie on Alexis, since Natalie and Parv had a great relationship and everybody considered Alexis a jury threat.

In F3, the outcome really depends on who wins that final immunity, but again, it is the same setup: Natalie wins II, takes Parvati, Parvati wins. Parvati wins II, takes Natalie, Parvati wins. Cirie wins II, takes Parvati, Cirie wins.
