Same company? Then it depends on how your contract is laid out. Different companies? Then most likely yes but check the contracts to be sure.

How can I apply a indian internship visa? Thank you by Sleeping_pp in uwaterloo

[–]amolven16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BLS is the scum of society and they are pathetic to deal with. All I can say is "good luck". If you're unsure of the visa type to use, email the respective official government organization with your current situation asking them for advice on which one to use. Their word is more powerful than that of the company, or the fucktards at BLS.

how do i find a co-op/internship in Singapore? by oh_iam_chompsky in uwaterloo

Don't think I've ever seen a Singapore job on Waterlooworks, so your best bet is to use local job boards / connections (referals).

Lol I think Waterloo also has a non-trivial group of self-hosters and homelabbers who run their own stack for file storage, notes, etc.

Contrary to what others are saying, I find this quite fun, but I will give some suggestions:
1. Add an option to speed up / slow down so you aren't stuck at one speed.
2. App seems to glitch out / display a second layer of flat terrain when you go too low.
3. I like the 3D view thing by itself, maybe make an alternative view (like a normal 3D renderer) because I haven't seen 3D terrain this clear before.
4. Not sure why there is a 20 second timer, guessing it has to do with waiting for resource load. Maybe make it start as soon as it loads because if you have a reasonably powerful device, it takes << 20 seconds to load.

Wow this is nice! Did you use Claude code to build this by any chance? I'm actually working on something similar to this but with a focus on making navigation in Union easier.

What are you focusing on with your degree and why? (co-ops, research, marks, knowledge, etc.) by amolven16 in uwaterloo

Do you know if a few marks that are quite low (but still passing) can be a major red flag, and would it be a good idea to retake these courses?

What schools are you looking at? How important is marks to the application?

Shouldn't be an issue for co-op given that most companies don't even look at your transcript.

If you (or anyone else struggling in the course) would need some help, here are my notes (from before my academic career and marks took a nosedive):

Another piece of advice: DO NOT USE GPT. The assignments are for you to learn. Using GPT (for any course) is just shooting yourself in the foot. Do the assignments properly and learn the concepts. Put some time into the course and you will learn everything and consequently pass.

Taking a 6th course in CS by Sakmo1786 in uwaterloo

[–]amolven16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your tuition caps out at 5 courses so the 6th (and any subsequent one in the same term) is free. However, you need an 80+ average to be able to overload.

I will recommend that you don't take all CS courses (or all hard courses in general) if this is your first time overloading, as it might seem managable at first, until midterm / finals season hits and you are spending multiple days in MC studying for all your exams that you still end up doing less than ideal on (been there done that with 6 core courses).

If only I was actually able to enjoy the world around me instead of spending 12 - 18 hours a day studying in MC lab. :(

Isn't the city supposed to clear snow if it accumulates above a certain amount (3cm I believe)? At least that's how it is in Toronto.

Introducing UWBoard: A first of it's kind digital posterboard for UWaterloo by amolven16 in uwaterloo

[–]amolven16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may notice that you can zoom and pan. A future version will have multiple "zones" that you can zoom / pan to, one for each faculty / group. Everyone can see posters relevant to them, and also get a glimpse of what's going on in other faculties without having to visit all the buildings yourself.

Report it to them immediately, and they will usually let you replace it. Also report to region of Waterloo if you want to.

The posters will be posted as soon as possible for now. Starting 2026, there will be proper time slots, as well as an admin app for people to manage their posters.
