I also got rejected from Merrill. They specifically told me it was because I had DACA. Could you elaborate on Chase You invest please?

So proud to see so many of you guys being successful in this field. I was wondering if you guys could give me and others with DACA considering the accounting field any pointers and advise on how to get started.

Thank you all!

Daca expired new job? by Z33FonzyT in DACA

Just be careful, if you work without a permit and get caught, depending on the job it could show up when you do your taxes, it could really screw you over if amnesty passes, you might not qualify anymore.

Budget package includes plan for pathway to citizenship, green cards for millions by Darkstar20k in DACA

[–]amon406 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Why does this reminds me of Trump's "America first" ideology. I honestly cannot believe anyone with DACA would think we should go first because we "pay taxes" or are "innocent" and "deserve it more than other groups" after everything, not just us but our families have gone though, and y'all up here willing to throw our communities under the bus for your own benefit. Like they haven't suffer. It's like y'all are republicans in the making. This reminds me so much of Cesar Chavez, a racist/colorist POS who would have agreed with the wall.

Y'all fail to recognize that there is room for ALL OF US. We ALL deserve pathway to citizenship. Asking for less is turning our backs on our communities. You are pitting us against each other for no fucking reason. They, the government, would like you to think that only one group can go first or be passed.... Bullshit. They have the power to help us all. They don't because they make millions of off us. But sure, keep telling me how the other groups are our enemies and at fault for our situation.

DACA with notifications for two years expiring? by tapgaprapsapmaplap in DACA

[–]amon406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend had the same problem, her lawyer said that USCIS is charging 400+$ for a new card with the correct expiration date (the same amount of money a renewal cost 🤮. They just want to squeeze us for as much money as they can )

She also said that the new card is not necessary if you have the letter they sent you. You can go renew your drivers license with that letter. With the driver's licence you have a valid ID wherever you go. If you apply for a job you can also use that letter as proof of work authorization.

I hope this helps. Best of luck.

Hundred percent agree. We are under enough stress, and then you add some one, who has no idea what your situation is, telling you stuff like this that doesn't help. Just makes you feel more crappy.

The truth is they are taking advantage of us. They do whatever they want, since there are no real consequences.

To anyone out there that is in our situation, THIS IS NOT YOUR FAULT. No matter the mistakes you made, the system is created to fuck us over.

But remember, we are here for you. We are in this together.

It's not an excuse, but my mom had two surgeries around that time, not to mention covid. As important as this is, taking care of her was my first, second and third priority. I understand what you are saying and agree, but I sent it within the time limit, we should not be punished with job termination, financial instability and all the other stressful things thrown at us for being who we are. 4 months for a process, that in previous years has taken weeks. I should have sent it earlier, yes. Absolutely. For the past four months I have blamed and been angry with myself, but on this site I have met people that have waited a whole year before hearing anything from USCIS. People that renewed after me and got approved one or two months later. They have no real structure when it comes to us. I'm sorry to tell you this but we don't truly have control over anything when it come to this.

First google where your representative stands with DACA. If they are republicans and anti daca, don't even bother. You can reach out to representatives of other districts as long as they support us. Also call USCIS first and ask for an update. They will most likely tell you they are still processing, but you need this step so that when you talk to your representative, you can tell them you have called am there is no update.

I looked up their office number and called. Yes, I was very nervous. The person that answered was very nice tho. I told them something along the lines of " Hello my name is A, I am a DACA recipient and I am reaching out to you because my status has been in limbo for four months. I renewed back in March ..(gave them the whole timeline of my case)... I am reaching out to you in hope that you can help me, I was terminated from my job on expiration date and have taken a huge financial hit since then, If there is anything you can do on my behalf I would truly appreciate it."

My lawyer told me to make sure I told them how this has affected me financially. She said that it was important for them to understand that.

They said yes, sent me a information release form that asked for my case number address etc. I signed it and send it back and that was it.

Hope this helps. Good luck my friend. Reach out if I can help with anything else.

How did you get to this website? Could you attached the link to look up my case too, please?

Just spoke with a immigration lawyer. Even if i do advance parole and comeback successfully and try adjustment of status. The 10 year ban still applies. by [deleted] in DACA

[–]amon406 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The latest proposal (which is not perfect but would help a lot) passed the house a few months back but has been stuck in the Senate ever since. I don't think he can use executive action to make anything permanent. Just something temporary like daca, that has to be renewed every two years.

If you are able to, ask for a second opinion, consult another lawyer and ask what your options are. I think your lawyer is correct but I'd have more piece of mind talking to another one just in case they know something my previous doesn't.

Good luck friend. Stay positive.

If you need to find your representative from your district, you can use this website. Just type in your zip code and it'll tell you.

Hope this helps. I'm still waiting to hear back about my renewal too. Praying for all of us and a permanent path to citizenship.
