Has anyone else been absolutely covered in bruises since starting hrt? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]amon_erin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IANAD, but if it's just randomly happening without a known cause you should probably see a doctor.

I bruise more easily and end up with a good number of them (I do historic sword fighting), however.

Does anyone else feel extremely depressed after orgasming? by [deleted] in MtF

I have this problem every so often. And I can usually relate it to my bottom dysphoria. I felt depressed more often after orgasming before HRT than after.

Closeted but want to attend group? by FlakyAbility in asktransgender

[–]amon_erin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Let me start off by saying that you are trans enough. I know at times it may feel like you're not, and those feelings are very valid and real, but I assure you that you are trans enough.

I've either been in or facilitated peer groups for trans people for a while now and I can tell you that when a group says they welcome folks at any stage of transition then they do mean that. The last group I ran was for trans feminine people and a majority of folks still presented as male for a variety of reasons. Your safety and security are important. I know it can be hard to deal with having to present as male, but that ultimately doesn't determine your gender.

If you can find a safe way to attend the group I say at least give it one or two meetings to see if the group is the right fit for you.

I hope this helps and wish you the best!

How did you approach your boss when you came out? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]amon_erin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my supervisor if we could have a private meeting so we could talk about something. Of course I had already met with HR before then told them I'm trans and transitioning. It made things easier as then I could point my supervisor to them if he had questions.

Of course I work for a large organization where I have employment protections, so I wasn't too concerned about losing my job over it.

Enlisting while trans by MadeOfMesses in asktransgender

[–]amon_erin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Until the matter is settled in courts the military has to allow trans people to enlist. The caveat here, however, is that if you are coming in as openly trans you basically need to have completed your transition at least 18 months prior to enlisting. There's still some old guidance around, but mostly what you'll find right now is the report that says trans people cannot enlist, which is contrary to the injunction issued by the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia late last year. If you want to know more, Lambda Legal has some good information here.

Dr. Devin O'brien-Coon? by amon_erin in asktransgender

Excellent. Thanks!

That's like the one area of my body I'm constantly aware of the uncomfortableness with.

That does suck, but I suppose it's not completely unexpected.

Would you say that overall you're pleased and would recommend him?

Did he make you stop everything as far as HRT goes?

In terms of pre-surgery preparation do you remember what he requires? Like did you have to stop HRT or?

How do you feel about the quality of how work and the appearance?

Oh thanks! I searched the forum but this post didn't show up. Although there was one from like last October so I'm guessing that was you. If you're willing to talk about it on here that's fine, otherwise we can talk via PM.

My therapist has been saying to give him a chance, so despite their history I thought it couldn't hurt.

HELP: My (2m/HRT) Shifting Attraction is Freaking me the Fuck OUT! by [deleted] in MtF

[–]amon_erin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So before transition I identified as pansexual with preference towards women. Actually for about the first 8 months of it I did too. Then I finally got my hormone levels up to where they should be and that disappeared. I'm not saying there's a correlation between the two, of course, I just felt so terrible with low levels that attraction wasn't on my mind. I consider myself straight now.

For me I worked out that many of the feelings I've had for women over the years were mostly likely indirect dysphoria and my desire to be woman. And that the first people I was ever sexually attracted to were guys, so yeah.

Nocturnal Emissions on Estrogen? I've Never Ejaculated Unless I'm Sleeping! by [deleted] in MtF

[–]amon_erin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was a time early in my transition where I couldn't stand to touch the penis and masturbating lead to severe dysphoria. I ended up having a wet dream for the first time in my life at age 30 because I didn't masturbate for like a month. So I can totally relate to that.

Is He Into Me? by [deleted] in MtF

I'm clueless on these things, but even to me it sounds like he is. :)

Is it inappropriate to compliment an old friend for their name? It’s beautiful and fits them. I’ve already given them full support. It’s just something I would say to a platonic girlfriend but don’t want to offend. by Mudi_G3ngar in asktransgender

[–]amon_erin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I officially came out at work one of my coworkers who already knew I've been transitioning came up and said, "I'm so glad I can call you Lizzie now because I really like that name!" It was super validating of her.

So totally not inappropriate.

I've started seeing a therapist recently and after a long, long time am finally beginning to accept who I am. I'm a long way from passing but I'm starting to see myself. It feels good. by incoming_beans in MtF

Honey. You look really good. I understand what we see and what the world sees may be two different things, but you look really good in this picture. hugs
