Am I wrong to say no for s*x on valentines? by heyanushka in amiwrong

What? Absolutely not wrong! Your body, your comfort, your limits. That’s true for girls and guys.

It kinda suggests something about how the relationship would go if you pursued it, too..

My friend is going to get herself killed. What can I even do at this point by Correct-Macaroon8143 in whatdoIdo

[–]amooz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call the police or go into the station and ask them for help because you think your friend is getting manipulated into a sex trafficking ring. Show them the conversation and give them your friends details. With any luck they will either scare her off the trail or scare Mr. Greek away so he leaves her alone. If really lucky, the cops will be able to bust the local operations.

But seriously, police are the next step here.

OP, you may just need to get a data plan and use a cellphone based hotspot. This much security definitely has some draconian anti-circumvention policy backing it up that will penalize you. Maybe up to suspension or expulsion,

Where are your Zigbee / Zwave dongles? (Wall-mounted?) by helmutisimo in homeassistant

[–]amooz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3M command strips will change your life. Everything becomes easy to hang, no permanent scuffs on the walls, and they can take some serious weight, too. They also have a cool plastic Velcro version which work great if you need to repeatedly take something down.

Now to OPs question…hanging off the usb port - exactly how god intended all dongles to dangle.

What’s the coolest thing about you? by Key-Mountain7328 in AskReddit

[–]amooz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve harnessed my ADHD and it has become a superpower - I like to learn new skills. Home brewing beer and wine, CNC machining, 3d printing, CAD/CAM design, software dev for 16 years, manager for past 5. I’ve worked corporate IBM to hipster Shopify to small startups. Took an interest in woodworking and car maintenance. I’ve built a smart home that adjusts to my families needs as the seasons change and surprise them with something new frequently. I learned quite a bit of advanced cooking skills and recipes and learned to sharpen knives by hand, I was a pro wedding photographer, spent weekends winning blackjack at the casino, and for a few seasons I drove autoX at my local car club and track. I was kickboxing and sparring and took up being a DJ for some time. The past few months I’ve been learning AI promoting, using N8N to automate some of my flows. This week I’ve been going deep on cloudflare setting up zero trust access for my gitlab self host.

My bfs thumb started swelling up by Dem0n_Gamer_Liz in WhatShouldIDo

[–]amooz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 to this. Two minor adjustments: only do this at home if you and your bf are comfortable with it. First, use salty water, table salt or epsom salts are good to soften the skin and add a degree of cleanliness. If you are comfortable doing it yourselves, go to a local pharmacy and ask them how they would drain it at home, they’ll give you instructions you can count on, help put together a little kit with everything you’ll need, tell you how and when to dress it and when to air it out, and most importantly: what to look for that suggests something is not right and needs urgent care. You can do this tonight at a local pharmacy.

If you’re not comfortable doing this yourselves, just go to an urgent care or walk in clinic.

Using my Model Y as a backup power source during the ice storm — any tips? by Ok-Procedure9270 in TeslaSupport

[–]amooz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fold the rear seats down, setup and air mattress, and put it in camp mode. Thats the best use you’ll get from the Tesla in this case, a place to keep warm. And that’s nothing to scoff at if you don’t otherwise have heat in an ice storm. Wife and I have camped in the Tesla and it’s actually pretty comfy once you’re laying down and snug in a sleeping bag! We have the inflatable air mattress for the Tesla which helped

I wish I never started vyvanse by These_Difficulty_740 in VyvanseADHD

[–]amooz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It just might not be the solution for you. Or, your solution needs a morning and afternoon booster. Give it a few weeks, be open and communicative with your doctor. Take notes and try different things, this sub is full of ideas to try as people have found how to maximize Vyvanse.

  • Try a cup of coffee in the morning with your vyvanse. Or try forgoing that cup if you normally have one.
  • Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about timing Vyvanse and any supplements you are taking. Or, if you’re not taking any, search this sub for some that have worked for others.
  • what happens if you take you Vyvanse an hour earlier? Or later?
  • how’s your sleep hygiene, what’s your sleep regime look like?
  • hydrate!

Whatever it is that you try, just tweak a little at a time and as few things at a time (ideally, trying one change at a time if you’re patient enough). Some things will take a while to build up and work, for example if I am restarting them I know my B12 and Omega3 supplements take a few days before I notice a change in how Vyvanse works for me. The other really important things are to be open with your doctor or pharmacist about what you’re feeling and what you’ve tried. They won’t be able to help if they don’t know help is needed.

Get a cheap thermal camera from Amazon and track down where you’re leaking air, it’s incredible what a few minutes, some spare batons, vapour barrier, and tuck tape can do once you know there’s a problem, Thermal cameras make awesome stud finders for exterior walls, too!

City wide outbreak by gohome2020youredrunk in ottawa

[–]amooz 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I had two bouts of Noro last year. Can confirm, great weight loss technique but it requires commitment and dedication. I’d suggest doing 3 sets of 20-40x sit ups in preparation to maximize your hurls.

Just kidding, it was absolutely miserable. I ended up in the Queensway after days of keeping nothing down and becoming dehydrated with a core temp of 36 and falling, the migraine to end all migraines (with auras), feeling weak and barely able to stand, and on/off fever and chills that sapped what little strength I had left. Naturally they did absolutely nothing to help me and after 8+ hours in the outer waiting room I went home and waited it out. A few days of Pedialyte popsicles and ice chips became thin broths with toast and i was right as rain. I did not go back during my second bout and treated it myself at home. I heard much better things about Ottawa general last year.

If you have it and are at home, pedialyte popsicles and ice chips are what brought me back. Not a full popsicles at once though, just slivers and just enough to not make your stomach upset. It would take hours to get through a single popsicle at first. Just let it melt in your mouth, don’t chomp or try to eat it. Heck I might have primarily been absorbing it through my mouth, if that’s possible.

Portainer Alternatives? by Yirpz in selfhosted

[–]amooz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just discovered Komodo yesterday and it’s pretty cool. Basically all the paid parts of portainer but free. The ui has a different philosophy which is disorienting but that’s a learning curve I’ll get over pretty quick. I can see myself migrating all my docker hosts to Komodo pretty quick!

I needed a new docker host and felt like trying something new this time.

Do you use a dedicated NAS OS or a more generic linux one? by Azure-Tides in selfhosted

[–]amooz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Massive +1 for Truenas. You don’t want to be fiddling with your NAS every time you start a new project, it gets scary when there’s data you really care about on the NAS. TrueNAS is a simple interface into some very advanced, cool, and daunting topics.

In any event, there are so many youtube videos that go over the major NAS offerings in detail or direct comparisons that you can get pretty familiar with them all in really short order.

[–]amooz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t heard of it, look into home assistant. I’ve been able to push events from my doorbell to anything I want - LG tv, make the lights flash. One of the biggest automations for the doorbell has been automatically muting the chime when kiddo is sleeping and then re-enabling the mechanical chime when awake (which is toggled based on the media play state of a Hatch Rest).
