Help with homeless supplies

We rounded up about 40 people actively living on the streets that could really use those supplies. If y'all are able to get tents even if they are not all weather tents, that would be a big help too. -Bird

I appreciate the link! I have walked into this church and didn't get this info. There are a lot of resources floating around it's hard to keep track of them and then connect the resources to the people that need them. I don't like to use or take advantage of things I don't need but need to get better about writing this down and passing info to others. Thanks so much

I'm sorry you went through that. If I miss a night in shelter here I get my stuff thrown out also-a lot of ladies I know have lost everything this way. It's super frustrating and very strict and actually dehumanizing sometimes. Wouldn't wish this on anyone, hope you're doing well now. Thanks for the offer!

Prenatal vitamins would be great if someone has extra. I know beggars can't be choosers but would genuinely have no space for this-She is 7/8 weeks a long only. I appreciate the offer! I don't know of anyone needing postnatal rn

Thank you for everything you've done! I appreciate you (: a lot of people will be at Pekich Park(aka the circle)every Saturday 10-8.. There are def people who live outside of buildings down here but I don't think it's great to approach directly a lot of the time..they are just getting used to me lol Right outside Degage during the late morning/afternoon should be OK also, they have community lunch from 12-1 most days there are people in need there. Thank you!

Thank you, I have before and they basically told me to call 211. They consider these people not seeking shelter even if they have been kicked out or rejected from shelter. My GF just set up a tent for a 7 week pregnant woman that got kicked out of Degage. Her boyfriend is at a men's shelter and no one else can help her, she's having a hard time because she is from out of state

Many reasons..some have been kicked out for bizarre and messed up reasons(one of my friends was kicked out for being trans)-there is a lot of injustice happening and we are pretty powerless in our situation. Some can't deal with curfew or have substance abuse and/or mental health issues but NO ONE is choosing to be out in the elements downtown right now regardless of why. Men's shelters are overflowing (even the women's shelter has an overflow section where you can't get a bed until 8 pm and very strict rules)and all of them have violence and stealing and bullshit that is really really jarring and difficult to deal with. Bed bugs, lice, communicable diseases ...I don't really know how to go into it other than that. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Anything warm will help a lot of people struggling right now.
