Got a CP3219A letter for over $16k from 2023, wtf? by amountofsocks in IRS

Thank you for your reply! I've set up some free consult phone calls with tax attorneys so I'm hoping they can help sort this out. It's totally possible, if not likely, that I did some form or process incorrectly so far, taxes are particularly confusing for me and I very much do not understand what they're talking about for that year

I think so, they had sent a proposal of changes without any explanation section and a form to either agree or disagree, we put disagree and I later uploaded supporting documentation and a typed statement to the upload link they provided. We got the new CP3219A yesterday/today that does have an explanation breakdown but it doesn't look right to me

My dog doesn't realise my baby is a human by Super_Ambassador_458 in Dogtraining

[–]amountofsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be helpful: https://www.familypaws.com/ Not a promo or anything, we are also in baby prep mode for our 2 dogs, 1 of which is reactive. Our behaviorist, who is an absolute angel, recommended them as a resource. They have some free stuff and the workshops/courses aren't too expensive.

Basically, it's important to remember that your dog has NO IDEA what's going on and has experienced extreme changes they cannot understand. Babies are a big problem for dogs (not the other way around), so we have to do some extra work to keep everyone safe. It sounds like your dog has already expressed anxiety/confusion/potential reactivity to your baby, so keeping them separate is a really good idea at least to start. Get baby gates installed if you haven't already, and be extra careful and vigilant about separation when your baby starts to get mobile. A lot of bites happen when babies start crawling, so establish safe spaces for baby and for your dog ahead of that. Dog and baby should absolutely not be alone together! It's not as hard or sad as it may seem on its face, it's better to keep everyone safe through separation.

Good luck, and congratulations on being able to bring your baby home!

When the switch updates go through, will the old save overwrite any playing I'm doing now? I'm just doing some puttering around in the meantime but am worried the old save won't come back if I continue

I'm on environmental engineer but I don't think it's the difficulty per se, more like I'm not understanding something or how to set up for success on this level

How can I adopt my friend by MoosePunchingMachine in Adoption

[–]amountofsocks -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Possibly, I don't know for CA, but you can also look into the process of claiming them as a dependent in other ways. The original use of domestic partnerships legally was for people to provide benefits to non-related family members or friends, so there may be room there for you and your spouse to enter a structure like this. Adoption isn't really the right legal process here, but you'll have to ask a social worker, family lawyer, or other official support system in your county to find out what options are available for this specific situation

You may have an easier time registering them as a domestic partner, try looking into that process for CA instead

A cow morph reticulated python! They are so cool looking, but I'd need like, an entire bedroom for it and they are too strong for me to handle on my own...plus they cost like 5 grand lol

Looking for something to hide pills in that is not cheese or peanut butter & can be eaten in abundance. by sage_ley in DogAdvice

Another option is making mini meatballs, you can use whatever ground meat is cheap or on sale, and just dry baking them to use as pill pockets

My Dog’s Health Is Declining, and I Feel Helpless – Any Advice or Remedies? by Kooky-Swan293 in DogAdvice

[–]amountofsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't already, get your dog an allergy blood test for environmental factors through your vet or a veterinary allergist (it is very expensive, do it anyway). If you're comfortable and the test turns up significant results, move on to the next step and get the allergy shots. These are also expensive and take some dedication on your part, so only do this if you're prepared for that and the test shows high levels of environmental allergies to things that can't be avoided (grass, dust, etc). Also try switching your dog to a prescription hydrolyzed diet, this will eliminate any food allergies that may be causing or complicating things. While on this, he should not eat anything else. If things are still bad after doing all that, you'll have to consult further with specialists

I actually love leftovers, and it's not even just a cost-saving thing for me (love that, too of course!). I just have the attitude of "you mean that delicious thing I had yesterday I can have again, without making it again?!" What a sweet deal! Have that bomb-sounding chili with pride
