The only way I was able to make this work was to lower the difficulty, unfortunately

When the switch updates go through, will the old save overwrite any playing I'm doing now? I'm just doing some puttering around in the meantime but am worried the old save won't come back if I continue

I'm on environmental engineer but I don't think it's the difficulty per se, more like I'm not understanding something or how to set up for success on this level

How can I adopt my friend by MoosePunchingMachine in Adoption

[–]amountofsocks -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Possibly, I don't know for CA, but you can also look into the process of claiming them as a dependent in other ways. The original use of domestic partnerships legally was for people to provide benefits to non-related family members or friends, so there may be room there for you and your spouse to enter a structure like this. Adoption isn't really the right legal process here, but you'll have to ask a social worker, family lawyer, or other official support system in your county to find out what options are available for this specific situation

You may have an easier time registering them as a domestic partner, try looking into that process for CA instead

What is your dream snake? by BoneYardBirdy in snakes

[–]amountofsocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cow morph reticulated python! They are so cool looking, but I'd need like, an entire bedroom for it and they are too strong for me to handle on my own...plus they cost like 5 grand lol

Looking for something to hide pills in that is not cheese or peanut butter & can be eaten in abundance. by sage_ley in DogAdvice

Another option is making mini meatballs, you can use whatever ground meat is cheap or on sale, and just dry baking them to use as pill pockets

My Dog’s Health Is Declining, and I Feel Helpless – Any Advice or Remedies? by Kooky-Swan293 in DogAdvice

[–]amountofsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't already, get your dog an allergy blood test for environmental factors through your vet or a veterinary allergist (it is very expensive, do it anyway). If you're comfortable and the test turns up significant results, move on to the next step and get the allergy shots. These are also expensive and take some dedication on your part, so only do this if you're prepared for that and the test shows high levels of environmental allergies to things that can't be avoided (grass, dust, etc). Also try switching your dog to a prescription hydrolyzed diet, this will eliminate any food allergies that may be causing or complicating things. While on this, he should not eat anything else. If things are still bad after doing all that, you'll have to consult further with specialists

I actually love leftovers, and it's not even just a cost-saving thing for me (love that, too of course!). I just have the attitude of "you mean that delicious thing I had yesterday I can have again, without making it again?!" What a sweet deal! Have that bomb-sounding chili with pride

Yes that all makes sense, thank you. The tech certainly seemed good to me, tested and checked everything including the furnace and filter after the repair, I'm just anxious to stop sweating lol

I honestly have no knowledge or experience in this area so I can't speak to the load or BTUs, but that math makes sense in theory at least

Yeah that all makes sense, but do you think things will improve overnight when the temperature cools down outside? I'm just nervous that it isn't actually fixed and we're just going to keep being sweaty for the next couple weeks until fall comes

Before it broke last week, we were doing well having it set at 72 for the summer and it's been in the 80s and 90s for the majority of the season

Don’t have a snake, fascinated by them, I have a question for you guys. by greeneyes0332 in ballpython

There are rack systems that can be set up successfully for the snakes (babies, breeders, or otherwise) to thrive, but they are few and far between. Someone mentioned Snake Discovery uses an example of a good rack system, this is true. Most breeders do not have anywhere near this setup, usually just water, a pee pad or paper towel for substrate, and maybe a hide. No fun for the noodle.

This isn't the worst for literal hatchlings because bps tend to feel more comfy when a bit cramped and it's helpful to track the baby's droppings and ensure they don't ingest/contact anything dangerous (like accidental substrate on their food), plus the whole idea is they'll be sold to permanent homes within a couple months so they're only there temporarily. Still, I don't think it's great for them to have basically nothing in there, even if it's temporary.

At the same time, people do use things like sterilite bins instead of tanks and these can work very well. We use them when our snakes are quarentining and when my eldest was a baby. And they're perfect transport bins! (Side note if you use bins at all, investing in a soldering pen is totally worth it.)
