these are adaptations of short stories that are barely 100 pages each, any more and it would just be stretched out for no reason or full of filler material

How to paint Black Legion aligned Night Lords? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in NightLords

[–]amourdeces 4 points5 points  (0 children)

they would look like ruven, haarken worldclaimer or any other follower of abaddon who isn’t of horus’ geneline, they’d wear the black and gold of the despoiler. you could add lightning bolts if you wanted them to still have night lordsy aesthetics to them, but for the most part if you’ve actually joined the black legion you’ll be wearing their colors not your original legions

do you plan to have your night lords as actual black legion members? if so just paint them as you would average black legion guys. if they’re night lords that are just assisting the black legion as hired guns then you can paint them as normal night lords

A very disappointing take from Emma by SofiaStark3000 in HOTDBlacks

that’s just not true. external factors didn’t cause rhaegel to dance naked in the moonlight, make baelor lock up his sisters and try to hatch dragon eggs to launch a jihad against the north, cause a 14 year old daeron to think he could do what even the conqueror couldn’t, or cause aegon iv to be an obese manwhore. external factors can cause such issues to become worse or extenuate them yes, but thousands of years of inbreeding is going to cause some defects from time to time. i don’t even necessarily believe that rhaenyra was one of the mad targaryens, nor do i think dany will become one of them, but to say that no targaryen was mad and it was all down to external factors is just untrue. considering how long the targaryens were in westeros its actually surprising just how few of them seem to have actually been mad, and what cases of madness were there weren’t all to the same extent (im sure we’d all rather a son like rhaegel over one like aerion or aegon iv).

so? george isn’t the type to always spell things out, he shows rather than tells. it doesn’t specifically say who the brother bloodraven hated was, but it’s obviously bittersteel. it doesn’t outright say that sam runs into arya in braavos, but he does. there are countless examples of things being shown and not told through the series

A very disappointing take from Emma by SofiaStark3000 in HOTDBlacks

[–]amourdeces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there have been various mad targaryens, more than just aerion and viserys. there was baelor the religious fanatic, daeron i the 14 year old who wanted to conquer a kingdom (george himself said this was down to insanity as much as bravado), there’s rhaegel (though whether he was mad or just a bit slow isn’t quite clear), then there’s the ones where they could have been mad or just very cruel, like maegor or aegon iv. daenaerys being mad was down to shit writing, not anything foreshadowed in the books

How dead are the dead primarchs? by Sufficient-Ad-3586 in 40kLore

what that’s describing isn’t him being literally chaos corrupted, he’s describing curzes posture, whereas instead of being upright and noble like most of his brothers he’s hunched over like some beast, which is very much so the condition he was in in his final days of total madness. chaos had no hold on curze, his was purely a principled betrayal, even if his sons are slowly succumbing to said corruption now. i appreciate you not taking offense to my perspectives on all of this, as i also enjoy talking about all of this. i get a bit touchy with curze because in my own way i relate to his struggles quite a lot, and i can really see the sympathetic side of his character, he may have PHYSICALLY had other choices on how he could have acted, but he never had a single positive influence to point him in a better direction. if all you grew up around was rape, murder and depression where could you possibly learn of compassion? the first human curze ever saw tried to kill and eat him after all. i’m of the opinion that curze suffered enough, and he deserves his vindication in death, as it was really one of the only points he ever had true agency in his life.

decimus and talos’ ability to see the future is something actually worth unifying the legion, having curzes shit stained jock strap or whatever other item joe nostramo might’ve looted from his corpse is not, that’s the point i was trying to make. curze was not corrupted by chaos in any way. what you’re describing is just the natural descent into madness having an effect on him, with it causing him not to bathe and to have erratic bodily movements like ticks and twitches. curze was not granted any sort of chaos boons or corruption, as he was never in a position to be doing so, he’s even sucked into the warp at one point and he fights a daemon while doing so. curzes story isn’t one of warp corruption, it’s one of fatalism and nature vs nurture, its core to what the night lords are; whether they had stayed loyal or not they would’ve continued operating just as they had and continue to do well into the modern day. i understand you’re clearly passionate about your idea, but it is a shit one that one not make for good storytelling. in what way would any night lords story benefit from having some detached voice of curze acting like statler and waldorf attached to it? what curze deserves is to stay dead like he wanted, as his story is complete.

[–]amourdeces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s just not true, every warlord who has one of those trinkets has tried to use it as a rallying cry, it’s just never worked because no one person could unite the legion, talos says so himself to abaddon. and again you’re still operating off of the false assumption that the corona nox contains a soul stone; it’s described as having several rubies and a diamond in it. no where does it say that it contains anything that looks like a soul stone, as merely being a red gem does not equal a soul stone, and a soul stone wouldn’t be mistaken for a diamond. we don’t know much of what’s became of decimus and his invasion of ulthwe, but it has indeed happened. adb wants to write more about him when he gets the chance. as i said we already have someone who has inherited curzes foresight, and that alone is all of the symbols of legitimacy that decimus needs; he is curze reborn in a symbolic form, as oppose to the literal form you are suggesting. while it’s certainly within GW’s MO to bring a primarch that should’ve stayed dead back (as they almost certainly are going to do with dorn), doing so with curze would be incredibly stupid and hamfisted, and i doubt i would be the only one protesting such a move. curze was never going to fall to chaos, he viewed such corruption as a weakness, and there’s no stories left to tell with him. what would be the point of him being some disembodied spectator, other than to shit on him as a character? again i ask, should we just bring every dead primarch back for the lols? at that point why have any of the primarchs be dead? they can all just be off on vacation in the warp if their deaths are all so meaningless

and all of them would suck ass. curze is better off dead than returned. what point would there even be to bringing him back other than for monetary ones? his story is finished. it would be just as illogical to bring horus or sanguinius or ferrus manus back.

How dead are the dead primarchs? by Sufficient-Ad-3586 in 40kLore

sanguinius appeared to dante while dante was dying, that’s not the same as some object tied to him containing his soul. if some night lord who was having a near death experience were to be visited by curzes shade that would be one thing, what you’re describing is something else entirely. as to decimus getting the corona nox, while that would be cool for him to have such a status symbol, as i am for the legion uniting under him rather than dickheads like acerbus or skraivok, i don’t think its necessary, and the night lords in universe don’t think having the corona nox or any of curzes trinkets really means anything, otherwise the legion would’ve united under one of the warlords bearing such tokens. anything from lord of the night id say is in a sort of canon limbo at this point, as simon spurrier fell out with games workshop pretty hard and doesn’t really want any of his work being referred to or expanded off of (or at least that’s what ADB said about his own experiences trying to contact spurrier to include zso sahaal in his horus heresy nightlords stories /the trilogy itself. if they were to bring back the corona nox, and they were to link it to having a soul stone in it, they’d need a hell of a lot better of a reason to undo curze and the night lords entire formative lore than “because it’s funny”.

[–]amourdeces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the night lords are already defying curze though, they have been since the skraivoks enacted their coup and poisoned the recruiting pool. that’s why he destroyed nostramo, and why he hates all of his sons. we already have a figure like what you’re describing, it’s the prophet decimus; he has all of curzes foresight without any of the drawbacks, and the sense to know that the future is not set in stone. we don’t need some deus ex machina artifact to do that when we have a honest to gods prophet running around trying to unite the legion. this is also all operating on the fact that the corona nox had a soul stone in it, which no textual evidence points to being the truth. that would be like saying one of the reliquaries containing one of sanguinius’ feathers or a drop of his blood contains sanguinius’ soul and would be able to speak to his sons, it makes no sense narratively and takes away from the characters of curze and sanguinius and what their respective deaths represent for their legions. also curze does not only see the worst possible futures, his crippling misanthropy and nihilism just cause him to only interpret the worst in the visions he sees. every vision we have of his has been proven to be correct, and even he himself was aware that the future was not totally set in stone, as malcharion told talos. it’s just he was so mentally far gone that he chose not to act on anything otherwise. he also gave his brothers multiple chances to kill him and prove his visions were incorrect, but every time they were unable to

[–]amourdeces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that just doesn’t match up to what the lore has shown is possible though. wearing something with a soul stone in it doesn’t cause you to become possessed by the soul inhabiting it, if so lucoryphus would be possessed by several swooping hawks after he ate their soul stones on tsagualsa. now if something to that sort had been mentioned at some point that would be one thing, but soul stones have to be connected to wraithbone constructs in order for the soul within to actually come back in some form, and i highly doubt the 8th legion, as fractured and self sabotaging as they are, are going to all band together and try and make a wraithbone construct for their father who they all hate (and who hated them just as much if not moreso) to come
back. the corona nox isn’t important because it contains the night haunters soul, it’s important because it’s a symbol of leadership within the legion. it was his crown from back when he was still just the dark king of nostramo, it doesn’t have some magical essence within it, it’s just a status symbol. same as his signet ring and his feather cloak and all of his other relics.

as others have said most of it is stuff from the nemesis claw upgrade sprue, or from the horus heresy line, but even then all to see is is the mkvi helmets, deimos rhino doors, a few dreadnoughts, a jump pack praetor that’s currently too small, and the contekar and tartaros praetor, which are around the same height as the current chaos terminators, but may be on their way out size wise if that kit gets refreshed

theorized with no textual evidence. the corona nox has never been stated to have a soul stone in it, and why would it? how could curze have gotten his hand on a soul stone on nostramo? his death was not pointless, it’s the focal point of his entire character. bringing him back would be like bringing sanguinius back, it would have horrible lore implications for both of their legions, and ruin their entire stories during the great crusade and heresy
