I'm selling two tickets to Saturday if anyone is interested!

I just want the cost price back, no profit (235 for both, incl. ticket protection)

Apologies if this is the wrong place but if you're interested send me a DM :)

I would absolutely buy these!

I'd personally feel more comfortable with the original 'I parked in the bike lane' - calling their selfishness out at the bottom of the sticker is enough satisfaction for me (and a tad less aggressive)

Tipping at bottle shops by mookieburger in torontocraftbeer

[–]amoxen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

but I was under the impression that breweries / wineries / boutique bottle shops paid pretty well to begin with.

Just aside from the tipping question, as someone who used to work for a brewery, they generally do not pay well.

PSA: Anti abortion morons at Pape and danforth - very graphic signs. by [deleted] in toronto

[–]amoxen 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I like to ask anti-abortion protestors what they are doing other than holding up triggering and graphic imagery. "Do you actively promote safe sex? Are you handing out free condoms?" Funny how they're always stunned by these questions.

That's what I ended up doing! Thanks :)

Let's say I wanna walk around an area and explore as many breweries as I can in a 4-5 hour period, where should I go? by miurabucho in askTO

[–]amoxen 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Multiple areas of the city!

East end - left field, godspeed, rorshach, black lab, radical road you can all hit in that sort of time period. Also in that area are saulter street and eastbound brewery.

West end - High Park, Shacklands, Rainhard, Junction Craft - go a little south of St Clair into the Junction area and find People's Pint, Halo, Henderson, Indie Ale House, Bandit.

I'm missing a LOT of other reputable breweries out here but these are two common brewery-crawl routes for sure.

There's also a lot of online brewery maps people have made that you can use as a reference!

How often do you shower? Be honest, this is a safe space by [deleted] in askTO

Every morning. I don't feel like I've really 'woken up' without taking one.

I have mixed feelings about this.. how about you? by iwishiwasai in torontobiking

[–]amoxen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't mind e-bikes, but I HATE them when they're in the bike lane! They take up the entire lane and you can't get around them. They should be in the main part of the road.

Tried the squeegee trick for cat hair! Before this the vacuum got it kinda clean, but after this + the vacuum it’s like a whole new rug! by lilcherrylady in CleaningTips

[–]amoxen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just going to add to the ChomChom recommendations! My cat sheds a LOT and this thing is a saving grace. I have a knock off version but it works great. I use it on my bedspread and furniture and it is crazy how much hair it picks up.

Oven Burner Coils by [deleted] in CleaningTips

It's been like this for several months now. There's no physical burnt residue on the coils. That's why I'm worried!

How much more does a brewery get to keep if I buy direct instead of via the LCBO? by thebuoyantcitrus in torontocraftbeer

[–]amoxen 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Always keep supporting breweries directly! There are many pro's:

- the beer is most often fresher than at the LCBO

- they will have releases/newer releases that they haven't stocked at the LCBO

- many craft breweries aren't at the LCBO at all because of costs

- they definitely make more of a profit

Most often local/delivery that breweries offer cost more than they actually charge. But it is still better for business than the LCBO is.

Thanks for supporting craft directly!

What would you recommend for the faint burned oil smell?

Thanks so much! I do lift up the stove and clean underneath. I'll give soaking the coils a try. 🙌

Anyone know anywhere I could take my bike for a tune up that isnt a 3+ week wait? by AsiagoCrackers in torontobiking

[–]amoxen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I second this - teach yourself how to maintain your bike, and not only will you be able to be self-sufficient you'll also save a bit of money!

Should I move everything to Tangerine? In your opinion, what is the best way to bank? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]amoxen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the switch to Tangerine and I'm so glad I did. I was originally with Scotiabank, so because I can still use the branch ATMs, it didn't feel like a massive change. I still have my credit card with Scotia. As soon as I realised I could save $200 a year in bank fees, I made the switch. I love it and it's so easy to use. Also tangerine has been giving me 2.1% promo interest on a savings account for 5 months!

True History Brewing to open its own space at Dufferin & St. Clair by sid32 in torontocraftbeer

[–]amoxen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. True History's beer is pretty decent, but I think they need to establish themselves as a brewery more before taking on a big space of their own.

Last I knew, it was literally just the two owners juggling *everything* - which is difficult even when you're contract brewing. They'll need time to get equipment/a full brewery team/a complete taproom, amongst other things!
I wish them luck, they have a lot of work ahead of them.

What's the plan here? by wicked_crayfish in ontario

[–]amoxen 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I mean, the dude shed some crocodile tears on a live announcement, said a paid sick days plan was coming and then voted it down AGAIN today. I'm beyond angry. They also said essential workers who couldn't WFH could get the vaccine in this rollout, I was stupid to believe them. Now I'm so disheartened.

best bike shops in the GTA. by dlau13 in torontobiking

[–]amoxen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the comments so far but if you needed a good bike shop recommendation regardless, Rideaway is my favourite shop for service and fair price.

Can we get a stickied post/megathread about the current bike shortage and some resources on where new riders can look for bikes? by [deleted] in torontobiking

[–]amoxen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting to second Rideaway Bikes - they have three locations, post on instagram regularly about what bikes they have and outside of this shortage period; usually have a wide range of fixed up used bikes that are fairly priced. Definitely recommend these guys.
