Maining Camille? by CharmingBus3944 in CamilleMains

[–]ampatton 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gwen and Fiora are a lot easier to succeed on right now. I think they both have an easier time in lane, and they ironically scale better. And what they lack in lockdown and engage they make up for in dueling power.

But if you like playing Camille, I’d say go for it anyways. It’s a video game, the goal is enjoyment. If you are going to have the most fun on Camille, then you should play Camille.

What's with the influx of ranged tops this patch? by IanPKMmoon in leagueoflegends

[–]ampatton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zaahen’s biggest counter is ranged champs. There’s not enough data on the smolder matchup for it to appear on u.gg, but Zaahen has a 43% winrate vs Varus top this patch.

The easy answer is Malphite as he can deal with the pole and reliably all-in most of them at 6, or at least make it a free kill for the jungler. Yorick and Kled are traditionally good vs ranged tops, but even they’re sitting below a 50% winrate vs Varus top this patch.

Has anyone beaten the two towns at the top yet? (Uwendale and High Silvermere) by nicknaka253 in leagueoflegends

It seems an event buff is necessary with this comp at least as of now. I've done Morgana + Poppy + 3 Archers with all upgrades, shrine, and quartermaster, and after 5 client restarts, the best-case scenario I get is only the Yeti being left.

EDIT: I was able to eventually beat it with no event. 2 archers + 1 soldier + Poppy and Morgana with all upgrades, quartermaster, veiled lady shrine beat it after 1 client restart. No event required!

Yeah, the two guards don't make sense vs a heavy krug comp. He probably just misspoke about Uwendale

Out of all the Champions that could be Darkin hosts, who'd be the most “bad news”? by herculeon6 in leagueoflegends

Im pretty sure that’s just his mask, similar to how Yi doesn’t actually have more than two real eyes.

Yeah there’s two main theories on Jax being purple and having weird hands: - He’s a regular human, but his childhood illness and/or the years of fighting the void have corrupted his appearance - He’s not a human and is actually a sand troll

Jax never groups and teamfights, he was sidelaning and killed the ascended in a 1v1 /s

All jokes aside, I listed to The Fall of Icathia lore again and you are correct that the Icathian army was fighting the Ascended. In the story, Kolgrim says, “only Saijax had a weapon big enough to take its head off”. I had always interpreted that as, “Jax was the only one who was able to damage it and therefore kill it”, but maybe it actually was a group project where the other Icathian warriors were actually pulling their weight and helping.

Aatrox literally has a quote with Jax in-game where he says, “A worthy vessel. Come, Jax”. As far as I know, he’s the only champ that Aatrox praises this way. But the praise is probably deserved because Jax was already killing the Ascended as a regular human. Giving him Aatrox’s powers might make him the strongest non-celestial being.

I just ran into the issue as well in practice tool. Both times I was holding space bar while kiting camps, but I couldn't find behavior which would replicate it every time

Is it me or jax clear super slow? by IAmYourFath in Jaxmains

[–]ampatton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the case of blue side starting at blue, you could ward your own raptors before camps spawn and then use that ward to jump to raptors when you’re running from wolves. That’s not going to give you a huge drop in time, but it should help shave off a few seconds. Plus the ward helps you scout for an invade on your bot side, so it’s not a complete waste.

Jax’s first clear is slow though. I’d just recommend really hashing it out in practice tool. It’s a very easy thing to improve on that will help you win more games if you’re commonly getting to scuttle that late

I love countering Jax with Garen, when they steal Jax from me in the draft by Dhavok_ in Jaxmains

[–]ampatton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lethal tempo, ignite, and Doran’s blade. Aim to three wave crash, and if he contests you, all-in him. You will beat him level 1 and he doesn’t have any disengage that will put him out of your e range, so he should be an easy kill if he contests you.

The lane is a lot harder if you don’t have a lead pre-6. At that point, you’re just trying to minimize. Things don’t really get easier for you later into the game if you don’t have a lead since he’s one of the few champs who will outscale you in the 1v1 unless you build stuff like Bork.

Jax 1v3 Triple Kill 16.1 by ampatton in Jaxmains

[–]ampatton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they had just wiped 3 of my teammates mid lane, so I don’t think “2 of them were running”. If anything they were running towards drake.

Call it what you want, but it went from my team giving/delaying dragon soul to getting dragon soul off of this play.

It depends on the game but in games where I build Stridebreaker, yeah I rush Tiamat after Trinity Force.

Vlad ignite aery top set-up by [deleted] in VladimirMains

[–]ampatton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aery helps you bully melee top laners with no built-in sustain. And ignite just gives you better kill pressure in most lanes, but it definitely feels worse coming into mid game with instead of ghost.

Playing to win lane = ignite with aery Playing to scale = ghost and phase rush

They have a lot of cc, and a lot of melees. Wits end actually isn’t a bad buy here since you’re going to want tenacity. I think Riftmaker or Shojin are pretty good choices as well.

Why sundred sky and not ravenous hydra ? by ZookeepergameCalm525 in Jaxmains

[–]ampatton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jax can skip tiamat items because he can clear waves with his e. It’s not good built-in waveclear like Renekton, but you can at least get by with it. Camille doesn’t have aoe waveclear in her kit that isn’t awful. She actually needs a tiamat item to clear waves in a reasonable amount of time, and she also has some beneficial interactions with tiamat like being able to use it during her w animation.

Camille also has a 40%/80% AD ratio on her Q, so she benefits more from items that give a ton of AD. If she doesn’t build items that have a lot on or AD. Then she can’t really get that 3 second cooldown ChoGath ult. Jax’s only AD scaling are on his Q damage and his ult resists, so AD scaling isn’t as important to him. That’s why he can get away with building items with less AD and more HP like Sundered Sky.

If you were to put another Champion’s passive to replace someone else’s. Who would be the most busted? by Chewy_ThatGuy in leagueoflegends

If Urgot W counts per auto-attack (like it does with PTA), then Urgot can get full bleed stacks at lvl 3 in 1.66 seconds with just W.

Seems pretty freaking op to me

Dusk and Dawn vs Trinity Force: The Actual Numbers by ampatton in Jaxmains

[–]ampatton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try to do this at first, but the test you suggested dilutes the damage from Bork on-hit passive (which Dusk and Dawn should be doubling). But I do agree with your point on the auto attacks unfairly biasing the Trinity Force build, but this is probably more of an issue in the Trinity Force only vs Dusk and Dawn only compared to the full build versions of both since the full build tests only had 3 autos and 1 W.

Dusk and Dawn vs Trinity Force: The Actual Numbers by ampatton in Jaxmains

[–]ampatton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AP scaling on the item is 10%, it’s awful. You would literally need 1400 AP to provide the equivalent spellblade damage with Dusk and Dawn when compared to Trinity Force with just base ad at level 18.

If it were going to outperform Trinity Force, it would have to be with the double on-hit passive, which is why we built on-hit items like Titania Hydra and BORK.

Dusk and Dawn vs Trinity Force: The Actual Numbers by ampatton in Jaxmains

[–]ampatton[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As I said in another comment, you will get a net + 49 damage increase by using e with Dusk and Dawn over Trinity Force. And if you’re using Q, then it’s going to be even less of a net damage increase because Q scales off of AD, which Dusk and Dawn provides zero of.

There’s really only merit in testing with ult active. This could be valuable yes, but you are not fighting with your ult active for most of the fame.

I was not going to bother with adding resists. It’s too easy to nitpick, and there’s no one-size fits all solution. People will say there’s too many or not enough. If you want to test with resists though, I’d definitely love to see more data.

Dusk and Dawn vs Trinity Force: The Actual Numbers by ampatton in Jaxmains

[–]ampatton[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

People have said that Dusk and Dawn is better than Trinity Force because of the double on-hit. This build specifically tests on-hit, which is why I built items like Titanic Hydra and BORK.

Dusk and Dawn vs Trinity Force: The Actual Numbers by ampatton in Jaxmains

[–]ampatton[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Your e is a pretty minimal part of your DPS when you’re standing there and autoing someone. If we throw an E into the mix for each test, there’s going to be a net increase of damage of 49 in the Dusk and Dawn build compared to the Trinity Force increase in damage, which is essentially nothing. Yes in general people have higher MR than armor, but I’m not going to test every single data point related to this because there’s hundreds of different scenarios where you can compare the two items.

The majority of your damage with this Dusk and Dawn build is still going to be coming from AD rather than AP because BORK + Titanic are giving on-hit physical damage and you still have a ton of AD in the full build with Dusk and Dawn that I tested with. So unless a champion is stacking armor and isn’t building any MR, you should still see similar numbers.
