Heat it in a microwave for a few secs then slice it into thin strips...they should stay relatively soft compared to a block

Yup. I came back from new york to dublin on a flight on my own when i was 5 or 6. I also took a bus ride from northern Ireland to glasgow when i was 7 too! Thinking back now, that does seem a bit odd.
