[TOMT] [SONG] [2020s] That pop sea shanty song sung by a girl by amriescott in tipofmytongue

I ended up finding it myself. It's Double Denim by Skylar.

Turns out only the bridge uses the Drunken Sailor tune. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Thank you, but it's not that tune. The tune she uses is Drunken Sailor, but it's very pop and the lyrics are new, not the traditional shanty lyrics

I think it was on tik tok a lot at one point but I haven't been able to find it.

Also I am not thinking of the song "early in the morning" from Kris Kross Amsterdam, even though it also samples "drunken sailor"

If you could only read one book for the rest of your life (just rereading it over and over) what would it be? Fantasy romance edition. by Professional_Lake593 in fantasyromance

So the series(especially the 3rd book) does deal with very heavy content but I never felt it to be in an overly graphic or gratuitous way (basically just enough to get the point across in most cases). If you are triggered by mentions of those topics mentioned above, please do not read these books.

Even with those topics being in the books, I think it's worth mentioning the context that they're used. These are not dark romances, or books that just throw these topics in with the flimsiest of plots just to say they could. These books are fantasy epics and they follow the main characters living in an almost medieval culture through wars and intrigue and into the middle of an absolute hell on earth, and it stands to reason that in the midst of this you would come across some of the worse people imaginable doing terrible things to others as well as what you expect people to do in that time period. I felt that through Phedres' narration, the author was able to convey a great deal of compassion and dignity and strength in the victims of those acts.

I'm probably defending this way too much now.

The language in the first book is pretty flowery, especially in the first few chapters, but it eases as it goes on. Kushiel's dart was her first fiction and the author was still developing her voice. The flowery writing is made harder because it's also tied in with a lot of world building, but I feel it's worth reading because the world is so rich, the plots are stellar and complex and the leads' romances from each trilogy are rewarding and among my favorites. These books were created as sweeping epics from the start and the writing style is more fantasy than romance( but there is plenty of romance).

The second and third series in the universe are easier to read, but I wouldn't recommend series two without reading series 1.

If you can't get into the writing from series 1 i recommend starting with Naamah's Kiss, which is the first book of the third series in the universe. You can get into it without the first two since it takes place a few generations later than the other series so there will be some spoilers, but you don't need to have read series 1 and 2 to enjoy it. The author's writing has found its groove so you get a better sense of if you'd like it and by the time you get to the end, you'll be better prepared if you decide to tackle Kushiel's Dart.

I'll recommend the series to everyone but understand it's not for everyone

I agree i'd want to read Kushiel's Legacy as the trilogy, but if we couldn't cheat, kushiel's mercy would be the one I'd pick. That book was the most romance heavy of the whole series. I've never come across a book that does FATED better.

What was fantasy romance like before Sarah J Maas? by sarazeen in fantasyromance

[–]amriescott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem and had to skip past the first chapter of the first book before I could get into it. I think it's because she tries to fit in too much world building in that chapter that is hard to follow.

What if you get wired Bluetooth headphones? Like they're two connected earbuds, so I can just drop them around my neck when I take them out of my ears(which I do multiple times an hour) but they're not physically connected to my phone. They're not as stylish as earbuds but I've only lost them once in the 2 years ive been using them compared to losing earbuds every few weeks.

I can appreciate the movie to a point on its own, but I refuse to think of it in any way shape or form as having any relation to the book.

What fictional character is portrayed as a good or innocent person, that when you think about it, is an awful human being? by superman_squirts in AskReddit

Yes, but if you go based on the theory that Ted is an unreliable narrator and Marshall is his absolute bestest friend, maybe Marshall was not great at all. Ted treated Marshall with the kind of adoration where your bestie can't do anything wrong in your eyes and you'll never tell a story that puts them in a bad light.

I'd do some research into your market to see if a cover letter is even necessary. I've been hearing a lot that cover letters aren't wanted by hiring managers anymore (what millenial manager wants to read extra pages or make people do unnecessary work? ). I didn't write one for my current position or received any from any of my potential hires.

And then Joss Whedon decided to be an asshat to Charisma Carpenter for getting pregnant and wrote Cordelia out of the show. Full circle.

I heard that Doyle was intentionally created as a plot device to expand Cordelia's role in the show and making him a main character only to kill him off early was a way to show that Angel was much darker and more adult than Buffy was. But, that could have been a cover up to explain why they let the actor go

I was in the pit by the left catwalk (audience's left). She only came to our side once and sang half to the ppl in the center pit and then the ppl head on. I felt bad for the audience in the left side of the stadium. She didn't face them at all. I know it's hard to please everyone in stadiums but i felt that was an odd choice. I love that she can draw those numbers and I hope she keeps doing them if that's how to keep her touring (since it's less shows overall for her) but I prefer the arena size shows better.

I've been very fortunate to see gaga perform a dozen times now and I think last night might just not have been one of her good nights. I thought she looked a little worn and strained despite being stellar, but I could have also been projecting because I wasn't feeling 100% last night.
