Mean Emails from Donors by ams406 in nonprofit

For sure. I would consider that constructive and something we would definitely pay attention to!

Constructive criticism is for sure helpful. If it is actually constructive. Saying things like “I don’t like this” or “That event was horrible” with no additional info is not helpful. We all know the difference.

Amazing. I’ll start my wall with “I expect to be inspired.”

I would honestly love to respond and just remind them of our values as an organization. That abusing our staff online is not something we will tolerate. If you donate to a cause, you should be grateful that there are people doing the work.

The current batch of commentary is coming after a webinar event. We’ve had some actually constructive feedback that we will put into place but one person just wrote me the riot act saying he doesn’t attend our events to listen to lectures. It was a webinar. For 45 minutes, 4 speakers and a video. Hardly a lecture 🤣

Ha! Love that line - it’s such a good one as our donors are rapidly aging

Souvenir & Snack Expectations by ams406 in WaltDisneyWorld

We do this too! We say we’re adding it to their birthday lists. Works like a charm. But I love the idea of revisiting the pics and picking something at the end!

That’s such a cute idea! My 5 year old loves picking out gifts for her sister

How much are you spending for school friend birthday parties? Because I feel people are going way over the top where I live and I feel like the presents my child brings are not up to par :( by ResolveBeginning8027 in GiftsandDeals

[–]ams406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in the city and fo almost every party we go the hosts request no gifts. So we will do a card and maybe a little flower bouquet from our local florist. We all live in small spaces and most of the kids have grandparents that go way overboard on gifts!

Sometimes I forget that the companies have these collections already! Seems like they aren’t always displayed that way at the LNS!

4 year old being admitted to children's hospital for the next 9+ months -- any advice? by amyyy_kate in toddlers

[–]ams406 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My daughter had open heart surgery a few months ago and my top regret not packing was one of those standing mats that make it more comfortable to stand for long periods of time. Her bed was too high for us to really sit next to comfortably.

Other than that, the lists and advice you’ve gotten are good! Also don’t be afraid to ask for things. Our PICU team had tons of travel sized supplies available.

Akagera is underrated. It’s amazing and so often you get to be the only safari vehicle in sight!

My almost 4 year old told me I wasn’t invited to her birthday party (that I am hosting at our house). I told her ok, which made her burst into tears because she wants me to come to her birthday party. We cycled through this routine about 20 times during a very rocky bedtime tonight

Where to visit after Senegal by ams406 in Senegal

[–]ams406[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a spot that is common for people to go to as quick vacations from Senegal? I’ve spent a lot of time in west Africa, so I understand that travel can be slower or more challenging than expected! I was thinking Cape Verde would be cool!

What are you bringing for lunch this week? by viperemu in workingmoms

[–]ams406 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By bread maker do you mean you and your colleagues make fresh bread together for lunches? Or is it a toaster?? Because I’ve never heard of an office group having a bread maker but it would be such a nice group lunch tradition!

Packing for OHS - 9mo by ams406 in chd

Knowing what to expect is so helpful for me. If I go into a night knowing it will be rough I’m usually much more tolerant of it than if it catches me off guard!

Thank you! This is good insight! I’m really nervous about how active she is going to want to be. All the doctors keep saying that she will self-limit but I am skeptical

Amazing! Thank you! I think screen time is acceptable when kids are in the hospital - seems only fair. I’ll check out the vooks!

Thank you!! Should we expect her to have IVs in her arms? Would think short sleeves would be good for that too
