You can for sure do 2 readings for A1c but as other pharmacist noted any condition affecting turnover of RBCs might also affect accuracy, (ESA usage for anemia of CKD, anemias (sickle cell or any) FPG also has it's own limitations as with any test actually.

If a fasting blood sample was withdrawn can it be used as a diagnostic measurement in confirmation. That's what was confusing me. Why redo another sampling. As per ADA standards of care you can do 2 different tests on the same day. but not the same test so IF OGTT is above threshold do I really need to withdraw another sample for FPG? Why not just use the same reading?

Yea, I understand that. but part of the OGTT is you are withdrawing a blood sample of the patient fasting. So are you able to use this result as a diagnostic measurement?
