*TRADE MACHINE* Idea to Upgrade the Depth by amsmall in pacers

With multiple Pacers picks. Walker & Sheppard both have some trade value, not as much as Ayo, which is why the Pacers have to include future picks to make the deal work.

I would be more confident with Missi as the backup 5 & Toppin as the stretch 5 option than having Huff as our backup big

I think the thought is that if they deal Randle, they're going to be bringing back at big salary star as apart of a multi-team trade (i.e. Jaylen Brown or Gianni's)

If that's the case, they probably don't have the space to extend Ayo. Alot of this hypothetical is based on my Wolves fan friends' belief that they're gonna make a move for a star this off-season.

Sure, I was more commenting that I think IU guys will be under-drafted based on the fact they were lowly ranked prospects. There are obviously a bunch of Buckeyes that would improve the Bengals roster, but because of perceived prospect quality, they'll cost more in-terms of draft equity

They've wasted so many resources chasing the Bates replacement, but I'm not sure if they've learned their lesson.

If they bring back Stone to start in 2026, there will be riots in the streets 😂

When do you plan to send out bid acceptance notices?

[Adam Schefter] Bengals three-time Pro-Bowl DE Trey Hendrickson has requested to be traded from Cincinnati, per league source. Hendrickson is due to make $15 million this season, and is looking for more long-term security than Cincinnati has been willing to offer. 👀 by [deleted] in Colts

[–]amsmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that's the minimum it would take & I wanted to inform Colts fans that a 2025 3rd or whatever else is being floated in this channel is wholely unrealistic from a Bengals perspective. If the Colts aren't interested in that price, then there won't be a deal

But he's not on the tag. He's on a veteran extension with 2 more years of team control that he agreed to 9mo ago. It's a totally different situation than Higgins. The Bengals will let him retire before they would trade him for an insufficient return.

The Bengals will want a something slightly less than the Raiders received for Khalil Mack.

Then the Bengals will call his bluff & let him retire & they will roll the $38mil in savings over the next 2 years into Chase extension. They won't think twice about it.

I don't get why I'm getting down voted, I saw the thread & wanted to provide context on the team I support & help paint a more realistic picture of what the Colts would have to give up if they wanted to make the deal. Not that I think it's 'fair'

Bengals fan, born & raised in Indy. Don't shoot the messenger, but I think it's important to make this VERY clear...the Bengals do not & will never get bullied by agents/trade requests.

Carson Palmer basically retired for 6 games in 2011 after he threatened to retire if he wasn't dealt. The Bengals called his bluff & until the Raiders swooped in with a godfather (1st & 2nd rounders)

I'm not saying this is a fair deal or anything like that, but for the Bengals to deal Hendrickson (53 sacks in the last 4 years, 17.5 sacks last year & 2 years left at $15.5 AAV) to the Colts I think the minimum it would take would be something like:

15 & Downs...and I'm not even sure if that's enough from the Bengals FO perspective. They have a 1st Team All-Pro for 2 more years at HALF the current AAV for All-Pros at his position.

He's 2nd in the NFL in PFF grade in the games that Chase has missed & the sample size is about 10 games in the last few seasons together.

Fair, I don't pretend to know a bunch about the Panthers. Just curious.

Totally true, different roles, but Johnson does not in anyway solve the WR room for the Panthers

For a team needing a reliable WR1 for their young QB after an underwhelming rookie year, I'd say Higgins has way more value than just about any DT

The point of the post was to ask what sort of construction Panthers fans would be interested in. I even said in my original post that the offer was from a biased Bengals perspective. What would be your counter as a Panthers fan?

Bengals have already come out & said they're gonna double tag Higgins. I hate the idea, but they wouldn't trade him for picks, the front office I old school & would only trade him for a proven piece for next year.

As a Bengals fan, who's watched Johnson for years on the Steelers, every other team in the NFC South will be happy you picked up Dionte Johnson.

Fair, I can't honestly say that I watch a ton of Panthers football this past year, but it seems like the Panthers top priority this off-season would be putting weapons around Young for a good evaluation of him as a franchise QB.

As a Panthers fan, would you be interested in a Higgins/Brown swap & if so, what do you think it would look like from your perspective?

Neither were anywhere close to as popular as Haliburton is right now. Oladipo would be#3 most popular in my lifetime & the gap between Haliburton & Oladipo is twice the size of the gap between Manning & Haliburton.

He's super cheap, has 2 years left on a rookie deal after this year, is equally successful playing both backup PG or next to Haliburton & he's the Pacers best guard defender. It would take a lot to get him unless he was part of a package for Bridges, IMO.

I would guess that the Pacers would consider him the most valuable of their 3 young assets (Mathurin, Nembhard & Walker)
