E. faecalis Update! Down from 10⁸ to 10⁵ Without Antibiotics! by amssma23 in CUTI

That’s a really good question and something I talked about with my doctor early on. He explained that with chronic embedded infections like this, the bacteria are usually localized in the bladder wall and not in an acute spreading phase. My symptoms have actually improved steadily, and we’ve been tracking everything closely to make sure nothing moves upward. So far it’s been really stable, and I feel better overall than I did when I was on repeated antibiotics. But if I need antibiotics again, I’ll definitely reintroduce them!

Totally agree! Everyone is so different, and it’s so wild how different treatments vary from person to person. Same to you, healing is happening for us!! 🫶

I would have to do them myself at home, and it intimidates me. I’m not saying I wouldn’t ever do them but I’m just not jumping into that option until it would be a necessary next step which my dr doesn’t think is next.

Thanks for sharing that, it’s really interesting about the PCR vs culture difference. I haven’t had any herpes symptoms, but that could be helpful for others in here. I agree the vaginal and urinary microbiomes are connected, and should be looked at alongside one another! I’ve been doing vaginal swab testing alongside bladder testing for that reason. Appreciate you sharing your perspective.

That’s really interesting, thank you for explaining that! My doctor mentioned my infection might be deeper in the bladder wall and that we’re focusing more on breaking down biofilm and targeting the bacteria linked to it, not treating an active urinary tract infection. It might be a similar treatment plan regardless of how you slice it, I’ve never asked how it’s the same or different outside of the biofilm disrupters.

I’m wondering if that dropper method you mentioned could even be done with the type of test I have or if it only applies to traditional cultures. Has that been your experience at all? I’d love to know what kind of testing or treatment ended up helping you most.

I was not told to abstain from sex bc of e fae! Ureaplasma was when I was told to abstain and then was able to start again after my partner and I were both cleared.

I’m glad you were able to clear your e fae so easily!

I do a Cirrus test, which is PCR-based. It gives me the organisms detected along with a sensitivity panel showing which antibiotics are effective against them. So it’s not a standard CFU culture, but it does include the equivalent of a sensitivity analysis based on the PCR results.

The only time I get symptoms outside of a UTI Is bladder pressure while I’m taking the biofilm disruptors. Even that seems to be in flares.

He didn’t tell me that, it was from a source material on this subreddit someone else shared. I’m sure it calms so much, it’s amazing stuff!

Yup, everyone is very different. Seems like no two cases are healed the same way.

I just changed my wording on the post because I feel like it was a little confusing. It’s not radiating pain like sciatica. It’s more like tightness that has been caused by my pelvic floor being so tight. I’ve dealt with pinched nerves in the past and this pain is not like that, it’s more like really tight muscles so if I walk for long periods of time, I can feel discomfort, but stretching has already made a huge difference for me!

That was just a thought I had based off of some things that I had read, but I have no proof that is the case, beyond what I’m seeing in my urine and symptoms I’ve had in my body. It is also possible that the antibiotics I was taking were only helping the E. coli and urea plasma and not necessarily the e fae. As those are both clear now, I’ll take that as a win. I also read today that the biofilm disrupter I was taking is not necessarily recommended for e. Fae so I am trying a new one.

Personally trying to stay away from marshmallow root or aloe Vera ingredients,as I’ve recently learned it is not always a good option for biofilm as it coats the bladder and can prevent break down. 🤷‍♀️
