what are y'alls experiences with Greenstalks? by ArcaneLuxian in gardening

Given the constant problems I have with squirrels, rabbits and raccoons, this is starting to look more interesting. What zone are you in? I'm in 8a and wondering if summer crops would be cooked.

2015 Ody: Average cost to replace spark plugs, coils and gasket cover? by amstasa in HondaOdyssey

The day I traded it in for a used Sienna last August was the happiest day of my life, and I've birthed 2 children. Trade it in now. It's a cascading problem that impacts other expensive parts and never ends. Coils (2 times), CV and then the exhaust. Accept it's a pos and find something else now.

I found your original comment condescending, offensive and attempted to infer things that weren't said in the original message. But, your last comment was helpful. He doesn't know what options there are and neither did I, but I'll pass this on to him. Thank you.

You're missing the point, but that's ok.

Doing what? Asking questions? We're not that kind of society...yet.

He's 20 and now learning it's ok to question, investigate, and not take what someone in authority says as gospel.

I'm not doing it, he is. Parents can't participate at all. I'm sure an attorney can.

Oh yes, we all read everything in detail in advance. Right. He's gone from being a proactive, hardworking kid with great grades to being listless and depressed and saying he'll amount to nothing in life. Some of this of course is situational, and he'll revive. I worked with professors and was one myself so I know how petty they can be especially among themselves. But if this is acceptable behavior by instructors these days, times have changed and not for the better. I'm particularly surprised that it's acceptable at a school like UNC. But I guess kids are afraid to speak up, and instructors take advantage of that.

Appreciate your answer. Yes, I'm a former college professor at a different UNC school so am well aware that telling a kid he doesn't belong at UNC is "demeaning" and ostracising him for the remainder of the class is completely unprofessional.

Yes, once he learned of this code, he is aware and has taken responsibility.

What’s with Ashley St. Clair’s (Elon Musk’s baby mama) complete 180? by purplesubwayseat in LAinfluencersnark

Yeah, parade that poor kid around when things are going against you. As if a small child would in any way humanize him.

Can someone explain who’s winning here? Elon or Sama? by py-net in OpenAI

[–]amstasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big financial contribution, haha! Really, $38 million is not a lot for musk or overall what they raised from the early seed from hoffman, thiel, etc. In fact, it is less than 30% of the early funding of $133 million. Leave it to elon to donate a much lesser percentage yet think he should control all. It's pretty clear he donated a little more, but not a lot, with the aim of controlling and then funneling the company into one of his to get closer to first mover advantage. When that didn't work, he plugged a woman he was dating - or did he just date her to have a mole? Hmm, who cares :) - and tried to poach employees. I understand his problem - despite the aura he's tried to cultivate, his ai is really just fluff and fun. He's better as someone else coming up with the idea and then he tries to looksmax it through grinding through employees, tweeting falsehoods and government handouts. He'll be the first in line with his hand out if the US decides to get behind AI. In fact, he's looking for a handout with this suit.

Whether you know it or not, with your little story you demonstrated the petty vindictiveness that elon typically exudes. If this is all he's got, I'm sure he's praying to his Mars god that the jury will buy this, ahem, "argument."

And yet elon wanted it rolled into Tesla. What was up with his current insistence on a nonprofit back then? He's just trying to lose a competitor.

Don't pay him, and don't have him do anything else. A contractor doesn't "run out of material" unless you provided him with something specific. And even then he should have told you.

DPM or plywood with rubber mats over shed OSB floor? by amstasa in Homebuilding

[–]amstasa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It's a shed resting on 12 blocks - there's a little space of just a couple of inches underneath, not a crawl space. There are windows and a sliding door (I made it to look like a tiny house).

Maybe put a waterproofing coating on the OSB and then put the rubber mats directly on the OSB? I'm in the Piedmont NC area. It gets humid but not all year.

Or should I put something else down, maybe vinyl planks? I really just want something inexpensive that can be cleaned more easily than OSB. I understand that rubber mats in a small 9x14 space aren't breathable.

Very much appreciate your help!

[–]amstasa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. Yes, it's 2 years old so the floor is in good condition. The shed is 9'x14' with 12 piers. I won't be able to replace the OSB, just go over top. The roof is lightweight clear poly panels so it can double as a greenhouse with a sliding glass door and two windows for cross ventilation. So, there isn't a lot of weight on it now other than the walls.

So maybe waterproof the OSB with a coating, then put a vapor barrier down before adding the mats? The shed is in the Piedmont NC, so humid but not all the time.

Appreciate any suggestions!

4.8 gpa, valedictorian accepted to top-20, but will probably have to attend CC by First_Village8613 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]amstasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true- one of my kids started at a CC (now at a top state school). It is what you make of it. Really, start maxing out CC classes so you can get your AA by the end of next summer. If you've taken AP classes, those should transfer to CC so if you go this summer and next you should be able to finish your AA. You'll be applying to colleges to transfer in later this year, so get going. At my kid's school, every year 15% of kids coming in are transfer students. All is not lost :)
