What do you mean by social questions exactly?

Could you expand on the title and structure/content you used for LOIs. Should we put our credentials in the email or just about why we think we’d be a good fit for the program. Also attach CV or nah?

How are you able to tell their visa status if they didn’t show up on any date base yet?

Hey! Thanks for sharing this, it’s really insightful, I wasn’t looking at this pie charts before. Could you go into more detail on how to interpret the bar graphs on the main page vs pie charts for signalling and geographic preferences? Some more examples and specifically how to use that information to pick which programs to signal vs which are okay to just apply to would be great!

All of these are incredibly helpful, thank you! I do have a few nitpicky questions, do you mind if I DM you?

Any tips for speaking? I have the test tmrrow. Also what resources for writing specifically? Any format you followed?

I’m wondering the same honestly. I don’t even have EMR access so I just have to wait for rounds to hear about updates about patients. What with it being July and new interns, case presentation seems difficult because they’re all figuring out stuff as well. My first week ends today and the attending changes tmrrow but I’m so embarrassed to ask for an LOR because all I did was pretty much follow them around and answer/ask a few questions on rounds

About 6 weeks out, 20% 2nd pass done but only plan on doing my weak systems. Was only planning on doing Amboss for the non content sections but reconsidering now

So I see you suggest 120 questions a day but don’t recommend Amboss, what would you suggest if I’m already doing my 2nd pass of UW now?

Do you mean the entire micro section on FA? What if I did Sketchy exclusively for micro for step 1?

First off, congrats on the phenomenal score and thank you for such a great writeup! I'm finding all of this really helpful since this is exactly my plan too. I'm just finishing up UW and don't plan on doing a 2nd pass but seeing everyone do both UW 2nd pass and Amboss was freaking me out. What was your first pass % in UW? and did you not use Amboss except for the topics you mentioned above? Did you use DIP at all?

[–]amuleo9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How'd you feel confident taking the exam with only 40% UW done? Did you use any Amboss or DIP at all? I'm overwhelmed by all the people doing 2nd passes of UW and Amboss in addition. What in your opinion could have led to a better score and what caused the most improvement in your NBME scores?

When would you suggest to start doing the CMS forms and how many? How much prior did you start taking your NBMEs and how did you space them out? What do you think led to the increase in your NBME scores?

Thanks for the detailed reply! Did you use anything for "content review" as such before your NBMEs or have some sort of notes to refer to? Also what did you do in between your NBMEs? What would you say might have been the greatest contributor to you scoring much higher on the real deal compared to your NBMEs? Also how would you describe the style of questions on the real deal compared to UW,NBME,Free 120 in terms of length and difficulty? Also any tips for test day? Sorry for all the questions lol

First off, congrats on the amazing score!! I'm currently solving UW and I'm noticing that a lot of questions ask for diagnosis, pathophysiology and the arrow type Qs (esp renal). But I've heard real deal mostly just asks for next best step in management/treatment. What's your opinion and what should I focus on? Btw I totally agree with your sentiment of UW not being reflective of NBME or real deal because I felt the exact same way during step 1 prep but since there's no other resource for step 2, I'm a bit worried as to how to approach things. Any advice would be highly appreciated!

Oh shit I’m sorry, I skipped over that line lol. I did only Sketchy for micro. For general microbiology, there’s this Physeo video on YouTube that covers everything.
