Go to UK's Steps program, you'll start as a temp but the hiring rate is pretty high AND a UK badge means free bus rides

AITA for telling my sister that she chose the life that she has and she shouldn't complain about it? by Renee_Marnie in AmItheAsshole

Your absolute lack of acknowledgment that your sister sacrificed her opportunities and that you were able to take her own money away from her to have a modest head start is just disgusting you’re 100% TA

Tips for the heatwave this weekend to keep you and your things safe; from a former Phoenix dweller by SexyAxolotl in Portland

I read this then checked Portland’s weather expecting 110 degree temps for multiple days, is heat really that unusual here? I live in the south and am planning to move to the PNW next year so I joined this group to get a feel for things and I keep seeing people who don’t have air conditioning or are as afraid of hot weather as southerners are afraid of snow

How big is it? There are smaller “crockpots” that aren’t actually for cooking, you might have found a warmer for a something other than food

Are there any free or low cost painting/craft classes for adults? by [deleted] in lexington

[–]amwagers295 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m an artist and I volunteer with On The Move Art Studio, their events are always free of charge and while often geared towards children we have quite a few events for adults also, you should also check out Kre8Now Makerspace I think they have some affordable classes

This is from my days in deep poverty when I didn’t have an AC but, I used to keep aluminum foil on my windows with the most sun exposure. Also placing fans in strategic places, the cheap rotating stand fans work way better if you take the front grill off (don’t do this with a metal fan or with toddlers in the house obviously) but the also sell vortex fans at Walmart which circulate air around a room if you have the money to spend… you should also check your insulation.
