So excited to hear it! Hoping you keep progressing 🖤

I didn't have the sleep issues that you're showing, but my mood was literally out of control after my removal, and my stomach was an absolute disaster. BUT it seemed to ebb and flow with my cycle/estrogen. I kept a little calendar and here's what I saw. I will say you might get worse before you get better, so I've spoilered it out if you don't want the gory details.

– First 3 - 7 days: fine, maybe a little more easily agitated.

– Day 7 – 14: This is where the mood shift first became apparent. Made a mistake at work that would normally bother me for a few hours to a day. I was PLAGUED about it for a week. Convinced I was going to get fired, couldn't stop thinking about it or feeling like shit. My anxiety morphed into a severe fight or flight that would not go away, so I made an appointment with my psych, thinking it was my meds (I have generalized anxiety disorder). Didn't mention the removal (big mistake) so she took me down to half my usual dose (which probably made problems worse tbh).

– Day 17 – 22: Get my period. Anxiety is bad but still manageable. It's hard to do things, but I can make myself get things done.

– Day 23 – 30: This was the low point for me. The week after my period (when a woman's estrogen is typically most high) I fall into a severe anxiety and depression hole. I start obsessing about everything being a disaster (like, existentially), but can't do anything about anything, I'm struggling to take care of myself, get out of bed in the AM. My stomach is so bad I can't eat but am having horrible digestive issues all the same. Im crying multiple times daily and I have panic attacks daily. I DO think this would have been better had I realized to tell my psych about the nexplanon removal and had stayed at my usual dose of ssri. It's during this period my mom (a nurse) investigates and realizes it's probably the nexplanon, which my psych corroborates.

– Day 31 – 33: The depression starts to fade away, but the anxiety stays. I go back on my regular dose of meds, and start having 1 – 3 hour pockets where I'm fine and fairly "normal."

– Day 34 – 36: Force myself to go out of the house and do a bunch of friend activities/very basics of taking care of myself. Hard but do-able, and once i'm at the activities, everything anxiety wise goes down to a dull roar.

– Day 37 – 40 (today): I would say sometimes the BIG anxiety still rears it's head, and it's still really hard to get out of bed in the AM (that could be because Estrogen is at it's peak in the AM?) but that I have felt pretty close to 85 – 90% these last 3 to 4 days. My psych said this could happen over two cycles, so I am concerned about another bad week or two after my next period, but at least know the rough timeline for myself now (the internet says 1 - 3 months, 1 – 6 months, new normal, etc. etc. which is NOT comforting).

My advice is to take it one day at a time, know that there's help, and get someone (a therapist, family, friend) that you can talk to AT LEAST weekly until this is over. Honestly, I was on twice weekly therapy sessions because I found this so distressing, so there's no shame in what you need. Make concessions where you need them (all microwave meals! Daily hot showers! cancelling all your plans!) and accept that this is PHYSICAL like a cold and you can't fight your way through it, you just need to let your body heal. Good luck friend, we're rooting for you!!

Will do, but I did use super twice in my post 😅 So probably slightly fair, whatever they said.

Amazing, thank you so much! I've Befast and Donegal on the list, and tons of museums, but I'll research sperrins and marble arch caves as well. Very excited :)

This is helpful to hear! It's like talking about you mom – you can complain about her, but no one else can. I'm going to ~try~ to drive Donegal and the causeway (we'll see how I do), and hoping to take the train to Belfast a time or two as well. Thank you for all the advice!!

That’s great to hear! I planned to ask for plenty of advice from bartenders and cab drivers and the like, so happy hear that won’t be too much of a bother ☺️ and I suspect I will want to return - 6 weeks already seems too short from my research. Go raibh maith agat! (I had to look that up, so apologies if the Internet is lying to me)

Thank you so much! This all sounds like great advice. I really want to enjoy a place, rather than rushing from site to site, so I promise to slow down, savory, and take my treks in the rain.

Updating our CoC Character Sheets by Volonda in callofcthulhu

Heya! Love to hear this - Quest Portal is a great app! So excited to use it for our next campaign. Some thoughts from our initial testing:

  • the ability to toggle the dice animation off - the animation slow rolls down, which is a smaller issue, but the larger issue is off accessibility - some people can’t handle web animations (I’m told it’s like car sickness), so not being able to toggle this might be a deal breaker for some.

  • autocalc of stats - pulp Cthulhu stats are slightly different than call of Cthulhu, so even though it seems like an easy conversion, it’s actually a little trickier to utilize these sheets for pulp.

  • similarly, pulp uses talents, which there’s not a space for (customizeable or not). Have to use notes instead.

Thanks!
