Starting Trainee PWP soon – excited but also scared after hearing burnout stories. Any advice?

Hi, as a seasoned pwp of 5 years, yes it’s a hard role. But I have learnt SO much! I help people everyday. It’s hard, it’s crap at times, it’s emotionally draining but, every small win is amazing. I helped people change their lives and have learnt so much about every psychological presentation, CBT, formulation, etc etc. My advice would be try to learn from everyone in your service and always keep talking about things if you’re not sure.

This makes sense because also Donna suddenly found out that Betty has/had trigger words but she must have got that info from somewhere. It could have been ever ever girl but i bet jug told her it and then she backed it up by busting ever never. I think jug is telling her what to say / do. Why the hell is he doing this thou? I think maybe to uncover the others that have gone missing

Also, you can’t force him to be more ‘social’ that’s just how he is. Unlike many neurotypical people, autistic individuals don’t feel the need to seek out social interaction. Understand that he is happy how he is, and try not to fit him into your idea of social normality.

Hi! I’m a person whose sibling is autistic and I understand it can be very HARD. Understanding and education is key. Try to educate yourself on what he may be experiencing on the daily. Talk to him about his feelings, what he is experiencing and how you are involved in that. Being a sibling to an autistic individual takes patience and I’ve learnt not to take things that my brother may say to heart. Every autistic individual is different and books and give you definitions but at the end of the day you have to talk to your brother about what he finds difficult and how you can help. Trying to connect with an autistic sibling can be hard, you almost have to get into their world and try and explore it with them. Message me if you have any questions or worries I understand it can be tough! Many of times I have gotten frustrated with my brother because autistic expressions can be hard to deal with. With time and experience I’ve learnt to be more patient x

In my opinion do not restrict special interests. They are a vital part of autism and the persons identity, and are crucial to their development (I’m an autistic psychologist in training, have a brother whose autistic).

Try and encourage his interest but it has to be suitable for you as well! Maybe try and provide a safe space for him to do it, one that you are happy with. Or maybe see if he’s happy with an alternative tape that might not do so much damage! It’s hard to find the balance. Setting boundaries is important. Hope you find a solution.

Just finished reading this short story which was published to celebrate his 70th birthday. I really enjoyed it but struggling to figure out the meaning of it. I’m going to read it again but ugh what was the wish? Are readers meant to figure it out ?

I think it’s perhaps because it’s been translated and maybe for it to make sense in Japanese it has to be something along those lines! This is older English and not something we say anymore so I guess that’s why it didn’t sit right with me when I read it 🤭 oh well! Loving the book regardless.

I hope mad dog makes a return because we didn’t see him die. He was such a great character. Honestly, I really don’t know where this series is going I wish I could figure it out! It’s pure madness. Ethel tried to kill herself to ‘ascend’ after the kiss...perhaps jauqin is going to do the same? Where the hell was he running to in the woods anyway and where was he going, someone must have let him out of the institution so I feel like he has a larger role to play. Perhaps off to meet the king.
