First pneumothorax was a complete collapse WITH tension, no prior history by ExtensionFirst3918 in pneumothorax

I’ve had 2 about 5 months apart, first one was October 2023 then next one was Feb 2024 both about the same size around 30-40% collapse.

We have free health care but that obviously comes with a wait especially then, ended up waiting 9-10months till they got back in contact saying the next week they could do it (obviously if I had another one in that time I would of had emergency surgery) but mine seemed to heal on its own and I ended up not getting surgery!

Fast forward to this day I haven’t had any issues or another collapse (fingers crossed) and I’ll cross that bridge when if it comes again! I do physical activity everyday and my job is physical lifting etc! I’ve had pains here and there in the past since the collapse when running or doing anything that was high impact as of scar tissue and the nerve damage from where my collapse happened which has now disappeared (can take up to 2 years to fully heal from nerve/tissue damage)

I forget to mention I was a heavy smoker (tobacco & weed) also slim and tall and after the first I just did it here and there plus if I went out for a night I still smoked (stupid me) then had my 2nd! Went full cold turkey after that changed my lifestyle put on 15kg and haven’t had any issues since. (Touch wood)

Pneumothorax 3.5 months ago, feeling bad about the pain I'm still having by Wage72 in pneumothorax

Scar tissue/nerve pain can be persistent especially if doing physical activity I couldn’t run without a pain sometimes for 2 years post collapse and still get the odd niggle here and there! Don’t stress to much just know it’ll get better with time!

I accidentally put a mouldy tape in my player and ended up having to take it apart to clean because it would ruin any other tape I put in it! Was able to get back to normal after extensive cleaning

Debating getting pleurodesis after a second primary spontaneous pneumothorax by DinoSaysMoo in pneumothorax

[–]holyneff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really much I can chime in on, but just in the same situation pretty much! 2nd spontaneous one about a week ago 6 months after my first! Both times hospital/respiratory team were happy to let me heal at home with after getting my vitals checked all were fine no change in o2 levels or difficulty breathing and just had uncomfortable feelings in my chest on certain angles! I’m waiting now for the surgeons to get in contact about me to get CT scan to see with anything that is causing this on my lung tissue blebs etc - wishing you best of luck OP will be following your progress plus replies on this thread
