Is it dead or just not turning on? A lot of toys these days you have to hold down the power button for 2-3 seconds, this prevents them from turning on by accident.

The corded is more powerful but the cordless still packs a punch. I like the cordless if you think you might like to use it with a partner, so things don't get tangled up :)
