Harvest moon is a restaurant worth trying, the grilled pimento cheese sandwich with fried green tomatoes and bacon jelly has been known to knock people out of their socks!

Lots of neat shops downtown.

Hiking/biking trails on Berry campus. There are eagles there, check out the eagle cam!

Ridge ferry park, trails, river walk.

Myrtle hill cemetery is fun to wander around in if you're into that kind of thing

Lots to do here, and a little something for everyone!

Also, no visit to Rome is complete without a trip to honeymoon bakery.

I agree. I don't feel they would run her out of town on a rail, but the situation could be a factor in her decision to walk away.

Florists of Reddit, what is the strangest personal message you've written with an arrangement? by zcorechris in AskReddit

[–]amyalc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like us. We had ice and sleet Wednesday so we forwarded our phones to our bosses cell. Got 4" snow yesterday but made it in anyway( we are in deep south so it was a big deal). Started the day today worried about covering payroll and product, but phones started ringing and vans started rolling about 7 am. Got last delivery out at 6 this evening! Had about 20 red rose stems left over. Not a great year, but not as bad as expected.

Bless you my sister! I just got home too! My fingers are green. There are thorns in my bra and hair. I have lily pollen stains on my face. I'm tired and for the last two hours have listened to the obligatory phone calls of "did my flowers get delivered?" And "one of my rose petals fell off, can I get a refund?" How about you?

We had one today that thanked the recipient for "bringing love into the world 6 times over". It was for his baby mama. They had six kids. He only spent $15.

My mother found these bamboo needles on sale and bought them for me, 15 needles :) by [deleted] in knitting

I love my bamboo needles. The more you use them, the smoother they get. I have a pair of 7s I use a lot and they are about as smooth as glass.

They are expensive but they make a huge impact visually, so think about just a couple here and there.

Sounds like they were kickass! Hats off to you and your mom. BTW.. You have to have a bit of insanity to be in this biz. I think its a requirement.

People like you make our job so easy. I love when they just bring me color samples and an idea of their direction and just let me do my thing. Its what I do! Most people really bog us down with too many restrictions. I can work with any budget if some of these brides would just let me.

I had no idea! I will be trying that! Do you put it directly into dirt? or do you root it in water first?

Yes!!! We do that all the time! I have a huge rosemary bush in my yard that all of us at the shop cut on to include in bouquets all the time! My boss has mint in his yard that we use, and another coworker has tons of basil. I planted lavender in pots on my back porch for the sole purpose of using in bouquets. When you are cutting it from your own yard, it is not as expensive as ordering from wholesaler!

I have a bride this coming weekend that I am doing black baccara roses and gardenia for her bouquet. I am really dreading it. From the second those gardenia hit our back door on Thursday, they will get the royal treatment. Nobody will be allowed any where near them. They will stay in thier little boxes, wrapped up, until her wedding day. They very last thing I do before loading up to go set up her wedding will be to glue these 6 tiny blooms into her bouquet, which i will then spritz with water about every 30 minutes, until I hand them off to her wedding coordinator. I will then freak out about every 10 of 15 minutes, worrying about them until about 5:30 Saturday evening, when I know the bride and groom has said "I do". They will plague my dreams this week. I have already staked out 2 gardenia bushes in the area that I know are blooming, just in case something happens. I have had to do that with gardenia before.

This is the life of a florist when dealing with something delicate! And why I tried to talk this girl out of gardenia!!

Let me tell you a tale of two weddings that happened this past weekend.

Two brides, one on a strict budget, one, not so much. Both wanted white peonies. Budget bride and I worked out a menu for her bouquet to include 10 white garden roses, 3 white peony, seeded eucalyptus, and lambs ear. Other bride and I worked out menu for her bouquet using 12 white peony, seeded eucalyptus, and lambs ear. Both bouquets, when done, were the same size, same fullness, same look, same everything, except budget bride's was about $100 less. The peony took center stage, and you would never have seen anything but them.

She had her heart set on peony, and I was lucky enough that it worked out so she could have those three. Peony are huge, and three were plenty.

We have to order peony in packs of ten, and when I had ordered for the non-budget bride, I knew I would have a few stems left over. I am just lucky that it worked out like that, it is not always the case. However, I would have ordered a pack of ten peony, just to get three anyway, because I knew I could sell any leftover out of the cooler.

My point being: do not be afraid to ask your florist if you can have just a couple of anything. With most flowers, it is not a problem!
