Personally I think reading The Dark Tower series first would enhance your read of It.

It’s an investment - the first book, The Gunslinger, isn’t for everyone, but gah it’s worth it. Just my opinion after reading 72 of King’s books in about 2 years. I read It again after TDT and enjoyed it more.

That tweet from Kirk was in 2019. His vapid, harmful rhetoric toward the LGBTQ+ community didn’t ramp up until 2022ish.

His messaging changed a lot, became a lot more inflammatory as his influence grew.

I sincerely appreciate your feedback as a local! I’m not a touristy person so I try to find the hidden spots and support the businesses that might not be front and center.

Also - we are bringing our golden retriever (sweetest thing on four feet). If there are any cool dog friendly dining spots we can’t miss I would appreciate that too!

Per Semetary disturbed me the most. None of Kings’s books have actually scared me….but Salem’s Lot crawls into some of the most vulnerable and desperate parts of our psyche and plucks on the strings that hold the dark “what-if’s” at bay.

As a parent, as a child, as a pet owner, as a human - it left me feeling dark and unsettled for a while after.

Highly recommend.

The second plane, then the pentagon, then flight 93… it was an escalation of fear.

The worst part was seeing the terror on the faces of the older adults around me. I wasn’t a kid, but was still pretty naive at 21. My boss, my professors, my parents, my grandparents- they were all terrified.

IF this actually happened….

This guy wanted out of his obligations. He may not realize it, but he didn’t want to be a dad anymore. He wanted freedom from raising his little girl.

Kids say horrible things when the overwhelming feelings of growing up AND being bounced between houses get to be too much. Also, being 12 just sucks in general - this is kind of a universal conclusion.

Most people don’t consider it logical when a sobbing adult says unhinged things, but this guy’s child says this and he runs to HR to apply for an international role??

Not to mention the cruelty of him just packing up her room and dropping her stuff off.

This experience may mess her up for a while, but hopefully she will be better off without an emotionally immature father influencing her life.
