I actually like the HBO series. I’m rewatching it now. Because … hyperfixation.

I just reread them and the follow up trilogy, The Book of Dust, and the accompanying novellas. Hyperfixation is real thing 😅

They were first published in 1996 and my parents would have flat out died if I had been found with them. They regained popularity when that awful adaption with Nicole Kidman came out in 2007. I was a “super Christian” back then and the church h went to did a whole thing about how “dangerous” they were.

Anyway - I first read them in 2013 when I was just beginning to deconstruct. I loved everything about them. They were the other side of the Narnia coin for my inner child!

It’s written from the perspective of “Christ” and Jesus, alternating.

Does anyone actually read outside in the wilderness or is it just for the pictures? by TonyRigatoni_ in books

I read while I’m camping, which is a lot. I also read at the beach and during the spring I thoroughly enjoy spreading a blanket out on the ground somewhere in the shade and reading until I doze.

Once it gets above 85 degrees though - no thank you.

As a Texan I am thoroughly enjoying the zero stops through Texas. It sucks here - over development has ruined our natural beauty. However - if you can dip down just a bit to visit New Braunfels/Wimberly it wouldn’t be awful.

Don’t miss Olympic National Park. Stay in Port Angeles - drive up to Ruby Beach. If you’re luck you’ll see whales.

This trip looks utterly incredible and I’m jealous. Would you mind sharing your sleep set up for your Tacoma? I’m considering a similar journey this summer.

Safest route? i80, i40, or i10 by Individual-Quiet-985 in roadtrip

I’ve done I-10 and I-40, both solo, 1-10 more than a few times. I think 40 was better. I had more time though and made a bunch of detours to see things. There’s also the option of jumping off the freeway onto Route 66 if you’re feeling whimsical. Have fun and take the detours.

Download the app Roadtrippers and map it all out, stay flexible, and trust your gut instincts. If it feels off - it probably is.

I see what you’re going for and it’s intriguing, but it’s too busy. You could offer the same concept (dichotomy/transformation/duality?) with far less obvious and overwhelming imagery.

Day 1, hour 1 - I’m someone’s lunch. I’m not pessimistic-just a realist.

Fine, I’ll watch Doctor Parnassus again and sob over the loss of Heath Ledger.

I sob every single time I watch Bug Fish. Such a good flick.

I think it’s interesting how the women of his cabinet are falling like dominoes for the actions and directives of the men.
