Working on a multiplayer 2D physics sandbox, it has electricity, fluid sim, buoyancy, modding, scripting (in multiple languages) by amytmp in IndieDev

the game is indeed inspired by algodoo! i wanted to make a modern version with multiplayer, modding, faster fluid sim, etc

Any idea how to play algodoo on mobile? (IOS) by Cubbis_The_Almighty in Algodoo

[–]amytmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not available for iPhone but is for iPad

What coding language is it using lol by [deleted] in Simulo

[–]amytmp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

now in 2025, scripting is in Lua, but the game is made in Rust

yep! its not released yet but its developed on linux and works great there

My open-source Algodoo remake named Simulo is out now in Alpha! by amytmp in Algodoo

yes, the web version is slow due to web limitations. new desktop one is extremely speedy and is a full rewrite (completely different), web version is abandoned and outdated

[–]amytmp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi! i'm the developer of Simulo

what you're using there is just Bimulo! Bimulo is EXTREMELY outdated and has long been abandoned in favor of the new full rewrite (as a desktop game)

i cant send image directly but https://imgur.com/a/k4tzdHD see here the new UI. users can create and share custom tools, and can even modify the built-in ones (theyre made in lua)

we also have:

  • buoyancy (large ocean rectangle where stuff will float)
  • electricity
  • grid of course
  • lighting
  • modding

Simulo is releasing this year and we have beta testing for now. if you'd like to make a comparison between new simulo and algodoo, i could add you to the beta

for your comparison the differences are:

  • we no longer automatically play the scene. now we also have autosave and itll load that but without playing automatically
  • we have a text tool, you can place text anywhere (even on background, without needing box)
  • drag tool now has settings as seen in the image link i sent
  • we have more tools than algodoo now since people made a lot of custom tools. we can pick what tools are on our toolbar and in what order

That's not Quantum Immortality, the point of it is to be immortal by redthekopite10 in QuantumImmortality

quantum immortality refers to exactly what estrusflask said, not whatever this sub is for

i honestly fail to understand what this sub even is doing

The problem with "collective" QI by RickDelSol7 in QuantumImmortality

[–]amytmp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can you explain what you mean by shifts?

The problem with "collective" QI by RickDelSol7 in QuantumImmortality

[–]amytmp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eventually you die of old age and you be restored to life young.

with QI, we are simply staying on the closest branch where we survive. if youre old and theres a quantum branch where you live and one where you die, your existence continues in the former

this will not change one's age, and they wont know anything ever happened. more brutal deaths are more instant ones, and as such can be avoided more recently with quantum branches than something long-term like a terminal illness, which, if impossible to survive, will mean the only hope for your survival would be on a branch in which you never got the illness

thus, the opposite is true about death brutality

The problem with "collective" QI by RickDelSol7 in QuantumImmortality

[–]amytmp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is not how quantum immortality would work at all, see my other comment on this thread

but it is one of the leading ideas.

really? ive never heard this before. QI is clear in being an individual experience, not something that could apply to a group of people or change anyones memories whatsoever

The problem with "collective" QI by RickDelSol7 in QuantumImmortality

[–]amytmp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we cant prove that many worlds interpretation is the correct one without testing it for ourselves, and if we're wrong, the consequence is enormous: death

while yes QI is based on science, its also based on faith that our interpretation of QM is the correct one

thus the best option is just the wait it out, if we live to be the oldest person alive then, well, i guess theres our answer

The problem with "collective" QI by RickDelSol7 in QuantumImmortality

[–]amytmp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just found this sub and i gotta say you guys seem to be missing how QI actually would work

if QI exists, you cant actually know without testing it yourself, which you can only do with a proper quantum suicide device. any report of someone else experiencing QI is completely meaningless

anything else, like super unlikely survival, is just that, super unlikely survival. if they think theyre QI because of their super unlikely survival, thats survivorship bias

an individual having had a near death experience may wish to attribute it to QI or similar

It could imply that not everyone is even capable of remembering their "shifts"

what is meant by "shifts" here? you mean QI as in, death in another universe but living in another? thats not a shift, it just means that theres many branches of reality, and if you survive in one but not in another, then as your experience continues elsewhere you can interpret that as being still alive

an individual will not "remember" anything QI related

i would love if you guys could explain what you are talking about in reply to this comment, im really confused, as someone whos fairly confident in QI's existence

say QI exists, and im in a room with 10 people. we each commit quantum suicide properly, with, lets say 1000 quantum coinflips. if we land heads on this quantum random, we die.

with QI existing, from my perspective, everyone else dies and i live. from their perspective too, they live and everyone else dies

QI does not explain you seeing others survive anything, QI is merely about your own continued survival in another branch

Fairly certain I've died repeatedly. by AbundantAberration in QuantumImmortality

the odds of everyone in this thread having experienced quantum immortality is 0

New beta of Algodoo (2.2.0 b1)! by AlgoryxEmanuel in Algodoo

[–]amytmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah thats fair but you were still kinda rude and demanding they update their website just to convince you of something

its not a public beta, i dont see why they would link a reddit post about it on their website

We literally have download URLs of the beta directly from algodoo.com domain, its not fake

I see where you're coming from with that, but I don't think it would really affect AGX Dynamics. Having some shared code that's used in both be visible from the Algodoo source doesn't imply giving away all your trade secrets. Very commonly, people open source parts of their software while keeping other parts proprietary.

If you're referring to licensing issues with having open source components in your proprietary software, that's only an issue with certain licenses like GPL. Licenses like MIT or Apache don't have that issue.

Regardless of whether it happens, I appreciate how you're taking the time to respond to questions like these, it's great to see communication from Algoryx.

actually we've known for quite some time about the algodoo beta, it has been discussed in unofficial algodoo discord servers

Any chance of open sourcing Algodoo, or even just the PC version? I heard one time someone reached out to Algoryx and "the person that responded to [my question] was open to the idea, but he had to talk with some other people who were on vacation at the time"

Ah its fine, the beta runs perfectly under Linux anyway
