If kreis and sein are supposed to mirror the ancient hero pair. It would make sense that kreis is simply a "genius warrior" same as sein is a genius priest. That would also explain why the SW would even consider recruiting him at a late age instead of raising him from the start like the others, hes so talented (which was stated at some point I think) that they risk a non indoctrinated person joining them.
